Lower back pain: Hi š everyone I have lower... - Pain Concern
Lower back pain
Weāve had a good tv programme over here in UK about these pain drugs and what to do. If they arenāt working stop them and look for alternative therapies such as exercise. You may still have pain but the drugs are dangerous. Iāve have similar back trouble and am going to start a proper regime with Pilates and really try to stick to it. Thatās the trouble - we hope a pill will sort us out but we have to put the time in ourselves really. I think back pain like you have is so debilitating and certainly puts me in a dark place. It will take effort and probably money for classes etc. But Iām going to do it. I so hope you can find relief and am thinking of you.
Please let me know if you do find relief Iām awake at this hour 4:11am it got kinda cold n the house now the pain started ugh Iām on Wellbutrin for depression and adhd and thatās finally improving my mental health but now the pain I hope that Pilates works for you ā¤ļø
Pain can be difficult to bring under control and I find flares hard to manage. What works for one person doesn't always work for others, but here is my way of coping.
If the pain is not unbearable I try to manage without painkillers (but take you health professionals advice on this). Daily I take co-codamol. I was given pregabalin but it knocked me out and now I'm nortyptalline at night which helps. As I have a mixure of pain I have also used a deep freeze gel and a tens machine. Managing the type of exercises I do and watching my posture daily help to keep flares to a minimum. When the pain is manageable I have a variety of activities at home which I enjoy to keep my mind engaged and not constantly thinking just about pain or how awful I feel. Warm hot water bottle - not hot - helps as it helps circulation. Laying in bed can make the pain worse. A warm bath helps with general joint pain and mobility.
It is difficult when you have different types of pain. I attended a six week pain clinic which was helpful as it explained how with long term pain we can become hypersensitive. Giving yourself positive messages does make a difference alongside of pharmaceutical help. "I can manage this. I will get through it one step at a time. I have enough strength." It can help simply to be heard by another person, so find someone you can talk it through with.
At the moment I am waiting for an MRI of my lower back but there is a 14 week wait. I have spinal changes in my cervical region (confirmed by MRI) and suspect that is the same for lower spine. There is no cure, but it can be managed. All the best with your doctor's appointment when you finally get to see them. Not long to go.

ps if the pain is getting worse can you contact your doctor and ask for an earlier appointment? Maybe they can fit you in if someone else has cancellated theirs? Worth asking.
Oh My God Iām sorry babe I know what itās like to be in pain Iāve got osteoporosis in most of my Skelton Iām taking oral morph now thatās how bad my pain is
Iām in the UK and when my sciatica is bad I go visit my osteopath and he works wonder on me, it takes a few visits before I notice the pain reduction but I also have CRPS and osteoarthritis so sometimes I get confused where the pain is coming from. Tens machine helps my dads sciatica and gentle stretches.
I hope your pain settles soon.
I have a tens machine it doesnāt help at all and tbh it just sends the shock waves up n down my sciatica path what does ur osteopath do I wonder if we have one in the USA ugh things are so different her
Sorry to her of ur pain!! I am in the uk a few years ago diagnosed with s1-l5 , l5-l4 badly ruptured discs!! Was in a lot of siatica pain ,so much so was often sick due to it always being sore no matter what I did!! After a lot of time and eating a lot of tramadol which did help I did get on a high dose of gabapentin which did after about 9 months stopped the siatica pain!! The pt said what was wrong was deep nerve pain as it was inflamed due to the ruptured pressing on it!!! The gabapentin blocked the nerve pain so it could settle down!! I have since stopped the gabapentin and am managing ok with minimal tramadol usage thankfully!! Hope this gives u some hope!
Do u remember the dosage because this pain takes my breath away and I canāt function and because people misuse the opioids everyone that goes to the er in pikeville they automatically thing ur just there for pain meds
Get an infrared lamp & see if thereās a back pain yoga class where you live. Iām currently finding my lamp preventative, & I practice yoga/pilates type stretches helpful with regard to reducing pain & the need for stronger & more harmful medication. We learned Qi Gong at pain management. There are lots of videos online that are easy to follow. As you in the US, you may have a local community or multibed acupuncture clinic.
Thank u imma google this morning something has to happen I wake up every morning n pain and I stay n pain
