Hydrocodone

Our concern is the insomnia that seems to have developed as a result of the hydrocodone, he's not had a good night for months now, and becoming more exhausted by the day.

My husband had his blood drawn for the iron panel this morning, they said results would take a few days so I don't suppose we'll know anything until next week. This afternoon we had the telehealth appointment with Dr Walters at Vanderbilt. Best we could gather, Buprenorphine isn't a readily viable option

Is this a painful variant of RLS or a side effect of gabapentin or withdrawal symptoms from the regular release hydrocodone? Planning to ask MD to try Buprenorphine/ naloxone on my next visit. Hydrocodone initially worked but minimally helpful at this point.

Additionally, hydrocodone was prescribed to relieve severe RLS and PLMD. Hydrocodone 10 mg ER was first prescribed but it didn’t work (not sure if the dose was high enough). Immediate release hydrocodone was then prescribed 10mg at bed time and one tablet 4hrs later if necessary.

To recap, my husband takes Hydrocodone 10 mg for severe refractory RLS, this manages his legs very well but has been causing insomnia for months now, worse by the day.

I also take low dose hydrocodone, Gabapentin and Requip which I'm attempting to slowly lower the dose of that nasty stuff.I'm so happy to have connected with all of you fellow sufferers. Helps me not to feel so alone at 3 am.

In regards to the pain medication they gave you in the ER, hydrocodone/acetaminophen is an opioid and generally not prescribed long term for pain management. We DO NOT prescribe this med for restless leg syndrome.

I will be seeing my GP this month,hydrocodone has stopped working after 14 years. I'm debating on gabapentin or methadone? I was on gabba years ago,it ruined my gallbladder and had to get it removed. How have any of you using either of these meds helped with your rls?

But the Hydrocodone has an almost immediate alerting effect and has caused chronic insomnia. On Jan. 2nd he was written pregabalin in addition to his opioid and is currently at the prescribed 75 mg with limited benefit.

I haven't had any side effects,maybe because I was on hydrocodone before this. Hopefully it will keep doing its thing! Thank you all for recommending this.(and my dr. had no problem prescribing this)😉😊

I posted several days ago asking for advice in managing opioid-induced insomnia, I explained how my husband's Hydrocodone managed his RLS symptoms but caused him to lie awake all night.

I gave him another copy of the Mayo Clinic algorithm which I know he hasn’t read because whenever I mention I don’t get RLS when I take hydrocodone for migraines, he is totally amazed. Are there any positive studies that talk about klonopin as long term daily therapy.

I'm on hydrocodone . Three of them now thru out the night at 10/325mg. I definitely do not want to take this since it makes me feel like crap the next morning. I used to take just 1/2 to 1 pill and that would do the trick. Not anymore and I'm so frustrated! I also have klonopin for anxiety.

Well I went to my GPS today (Florida) told him the hydrocodone was not doing anything anymore. I suggested Gabapentin 1st, he looked back and I had alot of problems getting off that as it stopped working.

At first I was considering gabapentin but I see alot of you have good results with Buprenorphine, since it has a long life and I could just go off my hydrocodone which has absolutely stopped working after 14 years.

I also take hydrocodone 10 mgs 2-3x day for both back & leg pain. Finally, I take 300-600 mg of gabapentin as needed. About reducing the pramiprexole, I was probably having one night per week of leg pain/agitation.

The only thing that touches his pain is hydrocodone. His Onc doctor feels it’s beyond neuropathy and is reticent to diagnose neuropathy because he might not be able to be part of trials. I’m starting to think it may be his Nubeqa or chemo inflammation, in addition to neuropathy.

Second question is about the dosage and timing of the hydrocodone. It seems to be working as is, but there’s always room for improvement. I’m writing this post at 2:40 AM. Any input on improving the timing or dosage of the hydrocodone.?

30yr hx of RLS, and I've pretty much worked through Ropinirole, GABAA, PreGABA, Benzodiazepines (sleep), narcotics (currently Hydrocodone 10-325 approximately 3xdaily.

Hydrocodone cough syrup works in a pinch, if I feel like I’m at my breaking point, but it’s not workable long term. The doctors suggested I try codeine next, but I already know it makes me feel awful, so now they want me to try methadone. Methadone?? Has anyone had success with that?
