OK, so they are experimenting on me by changing from Dia-Morphine which I've had in my Medtronic Pump for the last 15 years which the body has become immune too! They are going to drain out the dia-morphine over a period of 2/3 days (that's going to be fun, not) and then once empty fill up with 50% Hydromorphone which is meant to be stronger.
I agreed to this as it's a change in drugs just might eliminate more Pain that what I get now. It's a bit of a risk as it's only half the strength but I'm willing to try. Being in severe pain for over 20yrs due to Failed Spinal Surgery which was the specialists fault originally as I only went in for a Prolapsed Disc put he nipped the Spinal Chord by mistake. He did tell me before the op that 1 in 100,000 go wrong and I said I would take those odds, I ended up being the 1.
7 Major operations later I couldn't walk and am now wheelchair bound😫 wouldn't you chance it????

I really hope it works for you. I'm in pain 24/7 and have an hour or less sleep per night due to pain. Thinking of you. Please take care of yourself Lynne
At the risk, of sounding 'Patronising', or Taking The P.ss- which I Am NOT- you Poor 'Thing'. In answer to your First Question and, indeed the Second as well, YES I Would.
I don't know much, if indeed Anything, about the process(es) to which you refer but, if it can 'Ease' your Suffering.....I think that 'Lady Luck', deserves to be, On YOUR side this time. I AM aware that 'Tolerances' Build Up, over time, and that a Change in Medication SHOULD therefore Help. Beyond that, my knowledge, is 'Not Good'....almost Non Existent actually.
I Can however, wish you well, and I will Pray for you Del. Warmest Wishes
Wow that is such bad luck. I suppose all of us on here having had a spinal op just sign that form never thinking we’d be the 1 it goes wrong for. That sucks really.
In response to your question re the medication, yes I would take the risk. It’s a risk but definitely I would take that risk as the increase of pain must be horrible so any chance of it getting better I would take. Good Luck.
Good luck and all the best for your change in meds. I really hope it goes smoothly and helps. I'm not as bad off as you but I know all about spinal pain and the curse of drug tolerance in chronic pain management.
Mostly though I wanted to thank you for sharing about your failed surgery. I have been a bit distressed because 3 years ago I had a partial discectomy in my lumbar spine and though it actually improved the muscle weakness in my left leg my pain level went up. Apparently this was because during the surgery the neurosurgeon slightly nicked my spinal cord.
Reading your post gave me a new perspective on the luck I had in that surgery. I have been bemoaning my bad luck in having a bit more pain to deal with but I have retained the use of my legs and given the pain relief you're on I don't think I have to cope with nearly your pain level. What happened in my operation was so similar to what happened in yours that I suddenly feel lucky that I got off lightly by comparison. I know it's not much help to you but I wanted to give thanks where it was due for giving me a more positive outlook on my situation.
Oh well, I'm off to be used as a Guinea Pig yet again, will let you all know what happens.....
Take care of yourself and honestly try meditation as it took me 8 weeks to believe in it then another 6 weeks learning BUT it's the best form of pain killer than all the drugs, it's just a shame you only get about an hour and not a day of some relief🤒
Is there a specific kind of meditation that's effective at relieving pain? That's one I've not heard of before but I already use it to help cope with stress and anxiety so I know the basics already. If I could add in something that helps with pain that would be fantastic even if the relief is short lived
There are so many for pain, I haven't used the CD for over a year now as I meditate without any CD's now. There is a course you can do which I did and I don't remember the name of that either I'm afraid (something to do with over 20yrs on Dia-Morphine I guess) . If you put the question out, I'm sure there are loads who know the course and the name of the CD's.
