Hi all ! I have been experiencing what seems to be nerve pain for the past 6 months . It feels like I’m being poked with tiny needles , sometimes I get a sharp pain like something is pressing on my skin and I get really stiff upper and lower back and bad muscle spasms . I am a 24/ year old female I’ve had blood work done , had a cervical spine mri done and mri of the Brian per the neurologist request . Everything came back normal and he said it’s just anxiety. He prescribed me 100mg of gamopentin 2x a day . I’ve been taking them for a week now and I do not notice any relief. Does anyone know anything that could cause this ? I’m getting the pains all over face, head, arms , hands , back , legs, feet , stomach , vagina , my tongue etc with occasional tingling up my legs and into my stomach. This is starting to take a toll on the way I live my life I just want to be normal again😢 . Has anyone else experienced this ?
Constant pain: Hi all ! I have been... - Pain Concern
Constant pain
Sorry for this pain. As everything obvious seems to have been ruled out it is difficult to give you any advice. Have you looked at alternative medicines? Also I get myofascial therapy which might be beneficial possibly?
Hi Emma thank you ! No I haven’t tried it what is it exactly ?
I had never heard of it but my consultant is very much in favour of it and other therapies alongside more conventional ones. It does not help every one and some get some benefit and some lots.
Myofascia is the kind of fluid nobody has heard of but makes the body function as a whole. If there is a kink in it somewhere along the line it creates pain etc, a bit like dropping a stitch in knitting is causing a whole and possible unravelling. This is how it was explained to me. The therapy aims at making it all flow properly sort of thing. It feels quite nice really but you need a good professional to practice on you.
An idea (maybe,) to get both your vitamin B12 and vitamin D blood levels checked.
Tingling, stabbings and nerve pain are all listed symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency (or even just low in range vitamin B12.)
Stiffness can be linked to low in range or deficiency in vitamin D3.
Low in range or deficiencies of Vitamin B12 and vitamin D can go hand in hand.
That’s is good to hear, BnB, but be aware that many patients get told their bloods are fine/normal/nothing wrong with us because bloods are ‘within range,’ but some ‘within range’ bloods can still be causing us big health problems such as pain.
Only If you wish to, you can double check your vitamin B12 and vit D blood levels on either Thyroid UK or PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society) two of the community sites here on Health Unlocked, members are most helpful. Also there is the
vitamindcouncil.com which gives top vitamin D advice if needed and what safe doses to take.
Also I was on a too low a dose of vitamin D3. (+K2) my Doctor told me I was being prescribed a very high dose of D3, I later learned it wasn’t very high at all and I needed to be on a far higher dose to relieve my symptoms. Once on the higher dose so many pains and symptoms dropped away almost over night.
(Not saying the same will happen for everyone as we are all different.)
Good luck on your journey forward Bnb.
Did you have any epidural or spinal anesthetics
Ask for a vitamin B12 & D,folate ferritin, iron, magnesium levels.Sounds like nerve damage occurring from a vitamin B12 def which can cause tingling, numbness, burning, paralysis, nerve spasms or shocks.Serum B12 needs to be above 500 if not vit b12 injections are needed despite what your Dr says.We were both told our b12 levels were okay we now have peripheral neuropathy t,hearing loss & permanent nerve damage in our spines SACD & severe cervical stenosis.
