help has anyone found a particular medication that helped relieve nerve pain besides pregabalin and amitriptyline
Ask your GP about Nortriptyline. I found it easier to get on with than Amitriptyline.
Hi are you sure that gabapentin gave you osteoporosis. I changed from gab to pregabalin, and it works much better but am I at risk of getting osteoporosis from that do you think?
I have been on gabapentin maximum dose with 1200 mg for years and find it’s the only thing that works.
Any side-effects like dizziness go after the first week or two and you find the full effect working once you start to move up in doses.
I switched to tramadol for a while which worked not quite as good but good enough.
I am on 1700 mg/day Gabapentin + 150 mg/day Lyrica. These doses have finally helped with the pain.... Nortriptyline gave me heart palpitations/Tachycardia.
Took alendronic acid for 8 years after an osteoporotic fracture in my back. Never had any side effects whatsoever. Now after my last dexa scan am osteopaenic, so have been told I could stop,as long as I continued with vit D meds’.
My brother has spinal stenosis too and has switched to Duloxetine which is suiting him much better, can walk further and do more. Unfortunately I can’t take it as contraindicated for me. I’m just taking Pregablin 125mg twelve hourly. Can’t tolerate higher dose. However still have lot of pain and problems getting out of bed and have to keep sitting down which is frustrating.
I'm sorry to hear you have been suffering from Neuropathic pain. It really is rough. I have been recently diagnosed with cutaneous nerve entrapment on my abdominal wall and I've found lidocane patches really helpful. They don't get rid of the pain fully but it really takes the edge off. Best wishes
