I had a discectomy in Oct 2018, since the ok I have pain on the opposite side of my back radiating down my left leg. I've had MRI nothing found, had 2 rounds of nerve injections without success. I'm on 1200mg gabapentine a day and get v v little sleep because of the pain.
I have a appt at the pain clinic on Friday (tomorrow) I don't know what to expect, can anyone help please?

My first piece of advice is go with a completely open mind. There is no magic cure. They will, hopefully, show you how to manage your pain. Maybe alternative therapies and most important ...pacing yourself.
Secondly although bit late now but keeping a pain diary would have been useful. Showing when your pain levels were high, or low, and what you were doing.
I am a huge advocate of the pain clinics and their staff
Hi, I know what you mean. Had 3 discectomies in 1 and a half year, last one October 2018 like yourself. Then had a broken vertebrae in December 2018. I too still suffer from a lot of nerve pain down my leg. Had another spinal injection in April this year
which helped for a short time. My surgeon referred me to myofascial therapy and a spinal physio as I suffer from tightly wound scar tissue around the sciatic nerve. It is early days yet but I think it is helping. You most likely are suffering from scar tissue too. I was given some what they called nerve flossing exercises which hurt like hell to do but are freeing the nerve from the scar tissue. It can take a while for this nerve pain to settle down but with the various treatments I get and which you could look into I am hoping to come out at the other end.
