Hi I’m 25 and suffer with my sacroiliac joint being inflamed, which causes me such chronic pain all over my body. I’m still waiting for a full diagnosis as too why it’s inflamed, I was just wondering if anyone else’s suffers from this or what do you do to help with the pain. I am currently taking anti inflammatory tablets but they don’t seem to work that well.

Hi Leigh-93. I have sacroiliac joint dysfunction. I’ve had denervation done twice. It gives 100% pain relief. Unfortunately only lasted a couple of months, it can last up to 18months. Hope you get some relief soon

Oh sorry it didn’t last long for you. The pain is horrible it’s really starting to affect my work. X

I was signed off for a few weeks prior to the second denervation. It’s impossible to concentrate with that level of pain going on in the background ☹️Xx

Hello Leigh-93 sympathise with your painful sij.

I have had chronic pain in mine for over 30 years due to posture which can't be corrected.

I can go days with no pain then something as simple as sweeping causes monstrous pains.. So...I don't sweep! Over the years I have learned what will cause them to flair and avoid whenever possible. Not always easy.

Acupuncture helped enormously but that was many years ago. I am thinking now though I may try again.

Surprisingly my GP put me on Tramadol which didn't suit me so I take paracetamol.

Any anti inflammatory should really be short term or at least taken with Omeprazole.

For me anything can cause a flair up my job at the moment it very physical which probably doesn’t help, but even sitting for long periods makes me ache it’s like being stuck in a catch 22 situation. I must say I’ve had acupuncture and it does help for short periods of time and I can’t afford it often enough. Ive been on anti inflammatory tabs now for nearly two months so hoping when I go back I will actually be diagnosed with something x

Have you had a referral to pain clinic?

No I’m currently seeing a rheumatologist specialist so maybe he’ll refer me eventually x

Your own GP can do the referral. Certainly worth going as they are the 'experts' and very knowledgeable in all aspects of chronic pain.

Can be long waiting lists though.

I have had SI pain for about 7 years now since an infection with brucellosis. I had radio neuropathy done on my right SI nerves, but it didn’t help me. In my case the only things that have helped were antibiotics for the bacterial infection then maintenance with anti-inflammatory herbs like boswellia, turmeric, and CBD oil. Stretching helps, too, but I had to give up running and other high-impact exercise. I only found out about the brucellosis because I went to a “functional medicine” doctor who tested me for a number of pathogens. Most doctors won’t do that and will just tell you to take Tylenol and do more physical therapy.

I am looking for a cbd oil that I can stand the taste of as it works for my dad with his sciatica.

in reply toLeigh-93

Hi

There is one you can rub in, it smells a bit like deep heat. Take care Lynne

I’ve had SI pain most of my life. Definitely see a rheumatologist. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis.

If this rheumatologist isn’t helpful, see another. If they can’t diagnose anything and the pain continues, please continue with rheumatologists, pain clinics and physical therapy.

Thanks I’m hoping to see the rheumatologist soon and I’m going to ask if he has a diagnosis yet as it’s very frustrating not knowing what to do for the best

Do you get pain anywhere else apart from hips and lower back ?

Leigh-93 profile image
Leigh-93 in reply toMohammed1985

Yes most of my joints and my upper back, shoulders and neck

What type of pain

Is you body aligned ok or does it look a little of when you stand in the mirror seeing the back and from and shoulders are they level or is it up and down slightly

Leigh-93 profile image
Leigh-93 in reply toMohammed1985

The pain can be different but it’s generally like a really dull ache sometime with shooting pains in my hips, I’ve been told by the rheumatologist that my spin slightly goes to the left and he thinks that’s more to do with my muscle pulling it.

Mohammed1985 profile image

Well being out of alignment is a big problem this causes allot of pains and aches has he suggested a plan to align it
