Antibiotics - how safe are they?

During an acupuncture session yesterday I was told of an horrific case - friend of the acupuncturist committed suicide after having his body completely devastated by antibiotic prescriptions - he had a urinary infection but the "treatment" destroyed him. I've had issues - which have pretty severe - myself; but this took it to a whole new level. More I encounter these medications the more distrustful I am of them. I checked out the antibiotic class this poor man had been prescribed - it makes grim reading

Unfortunately you only ever hear bad stories about drugs....never the millions of lives that have been saved.

Descriptions in the link are of people who have been wrecked by these drugs - apparently prescribed for non-life threatening conditions such as prostatitis

These particular meds have been suspended/restricted by EU regulations

They must have left a great number of casualties in their wake

Given a choice I prefer not to take. However, the disease may be worse than the side effects. Toothache from a gum infection can be cured by antibiotics. So antibiotics are taken.

Drugs are awful! We are lab rats and doctors have absolutely no idea what they are doing ( pudendal pain in the uk )and are given huge salaries to keep patients on and prescribe us medicine hoping that one will work - get you addicted and keep the money rolling in. Every time I go to the gp I feel like I am wasting there time and keep giving me the most addictive opioids....I have stopped and would rather suffer at home and have a drink . I have met so many people through this journey I am on with the chronic pain I experience every day and people feel ignored - forgotten and let down and on the edge of suicide because there is nobody out there to listen to them and take in exactly how they feel. There’s too many of us and trust me we will do the government a favour If we decide to put our selves down

Big Pharma rolled up with the medical profession are like Frankenstein's monster IMO, they don't know what they're doing a lot of the time and their actual capabilities and arrogance seen to be inversely proportional

I'll message

Pain is my best friend - keeps me company keeps me alert....keep my mind busy...why do you want to be drugged up and addicted ?.....might as well have a 4-5 beers every night surely it’s healthier?

I would recommend talk therapy. I am sorry to hear about your pain. Pain is not your friend, neither is alcohol. Both wreak havoc on your mind and body. Please talk to a professional counselor.

I had to have a tooth extracted -I've been in such a bad way I'd neglected them - I was terrified of getting an infection and being prescribed them, as I have had severe reactions to 2 broad spectrum brands. I think that if you have underlying fungal issues the consequences of a course of these "meds" can be quite devastating

The gum did get a bit infected, I was right down to the dentist toute suite as they used to say - getting him to clean it out, which needed doing twice.

Luckily I got away with it

Even if I was at death's door I think I'd refuse to swallow them

I was one them for almost five months A few years ago, they killed the problem but they did make me extremely ill during the course of them. I only ever take them if it's an absolute must .

The side effects can be pretty alarming.

I am absolutely certain they did permanent damage to my gut bacteria 30 years ago

I'd say it's possible.
