Left side pain and discomfort

I keep having this pain on the left side of my head, neck, shoulder, upper arm and ribs area. It’s all started about 2/3 years ago with

Only a sensation on my left hand two little fingers and some mild sensation on left side of my head and face then slowly got worse. Now whenever a get tired or overuse my left hand/arm I get this sensation. Saw my GP, and after many trips to A&Es saw a cardiologist. Did many ecgs, treadmills, and lately echostress, all were normal. Then saw a Rumatologist, did MRI’s, he said all coming from your neck and it’s wear and tear.

Now this horrible dull pain on all my upper left side comes more and more often Interferes with my daily life as I feel saturated and unable to do anything. It’s affecting me morally as I get anxious because I can’t explain it or know what’s causing and I keep thinking I am having a stroke or a heart attack and physically because I feel ill and have to stay in bed until it goes away.

I suffer from hypertension and acid reflux and for 2 months now I have been experiencing burning mouth, throat and blocked ears. Have been taking ipps for many years

Has anybody experienced the same problem?

Hi you could have low levels of vit b12 ,folate,vitamin D ,rbc magnesuim.All your symptoms heart,reflux,joint pain.can be related The neck pain can be cervical stenosis which is picked up by MRI or could be nerve damage occurring because of low D & b12 under 500.The meds you are Taking can deplete b12 .View info & videos on b12awareness.org for life changing info.

Hi Marilyn, Thanks for your reply. I take vitamin D everyday but not b12. Will mention this to my GP.

I have exactly the same and have bulging discs at C3-C7.

Thanks JayneGP for your reply. Do you get the sensation on you left side of your face and head too? Did you get any answers from the Drs as to what is it or how to help it. Are you on any medication for it?

My GP sent me for Physio but it’s not helping much. Thanks for sharing

Yes, it started out as what I described as a shiver without the goose pimples and now it's like pins and needles wearing off. An X-Ray showed there to be discs bulging; last year an MRI showed further degeneration and nerve conduction tests showed nerve irritation rather than damage (as yet), but it's gradually got worse in the last year. I have medication for pain, but I also have occipital nerve block injections done biannually, they take away the pain altogether and the horrendous migraines I used to get, so that was connected.

I would suggest that you ask to be seen by a pain specialist, he/she will be able to suggest ways of helping your pain. Physio is useless, especially on the NHS, there's only so much they can do. I had private physio after a car accident and the difference is amazing!
