Did you come off them slowly or did you come of them cold turkey? If cold turkey please see GP or pharmacist about tapering dosage.

Very sorry for late reply, new to this and wasn’t sure how to work it,

Yeah I just stopped, as I knew if I didn’t and got more I would have continued to take them, and would have been doing more harm than good!

Good news is I am feel soooo much better, all the aches and pains have left me, even my sore back has disappeared...???!! The only think i am having trouble with is sleeping at night hence the 3:20 reply! No matter what I do I just can’t sleep! I guess my body and sleeping pattern will recover slowly but surely!

Please speak to pharmacist. Pharmacists do a four year course on drugs in comparison to GP who might have had a half hour lecture during their training.

Have a look at

I am a little bit concerned because you have been on the drug for 4 years. You are enjoying the early stages of coming off. There may be residuals of the drug in your body which is possibly buffering the coming off so you have less side effects of coming off.

You say: "No matter what I do I just can’t sleep!". What have you tried?

Sounds like you’ve come off them to quickly did you do it with your doctor and replace it?

Hi there. No I was really irritated on them, I was consuming a full box and over the space of a week, I was sleeping most of my time. Not eating much, my belly was so bloated and on fire I was bleeding front and back! My skin was yellow and I looked like death! The day came where I was due to order more and I thought if I take this other box I am going to die. Extreme I know. But i was covering up the “craving” good, I had my family members fooled and was asking them to order from their doctors so when I wasn’t due any from my doctor I always had someone who did’. I knew deep down I wasn’t using them for back pain as I first was it was a habit now! They didn’t even give me any kick anymore! No matter how much I took in a day/night I just felt sick come the end of that night. Fast forward last week, I just looked in the Mirror and seen a person I didn’t know, I have had teeth fall out, bleeding gums, a lot of other issues and thought no more’ I haven’t had any tablets in my system since last Monday. The aches and pains have lasted 5/6 days, I even told all my family the extreme of my “habit” and I didn’t even feel guilty I felt proud I managed to just say No more! X

Well done Deeran, it isn’t easy getting off opiates (and many other drugs). As you’ve got this far I would definitely carry on.

The sleeping problems are totally ‘normal’ and will pass if you carry on. Once you get your sleep back to normal you’ve done it.

This is from the Patients Leaflet for Solpadol:-

Changing or stopping treatment

Long term usage of Solpadol may lead to tolerance

and dependence. If you have taken regular daily

doses of Solpadol for a long time, do not increase

the dose or suddenly stop treatment without

discussing this with your doctor.

It is the Codeine in it which causes problems.x

Thank you! I was highly dependent on them no matter how many I was taking it wasn’t relaxing me how the first few times did, so I took more and more! More than a full box within a week!

All my aches and pains have gone, it’s just the lack of sleep which I affecting me, but I haven’t took any tablets since last Monday and I am feeling me again, when my doctors first gave me them it’s a was lightly talk they can become addictive, but u need them for ur bad back so will keep u on! I was totally abusing them having family members get me them too! I was due to run out from my own doctor last week as they were on repeat, I haven’t had any phone calls etc! I don’t think Codeine is highlighted enough,

I spoke to a friend of friend and they are on Codeine and depend highly on them! But like me they had on repeat and I was telling them. All my problems I had. Bleeding, choking, headaches, agitated until I took a few, my skin being yellow, lots and lots more! I feel healthier, and better once I sleep again x

I am so pleased for you as those first few doses without them can be the worse. Hope your sleeping patterns go back to normal very soon. Well done for sticking it out.x

Stay strong in your desire to stop the addiction. Check into a liver detox. Take it slow, but getting the damage to liver from use corrected will help you so much. Find an organic dark chocolate bar that you can eat a hour before bedtime. Dark chocolate has many healing qualities, and one effect is helping you sleep. Did your codeine tablets have NSAIDs in them? If so they are very damaging to kidneys and liver. Any drug and over the counter drugs used for any length of time will have an effect on our body and we need to detox these elements from our organs. Check into herbal and natural means to cleanse these from your internal organs, so your body can recover health. Drink non chlorine water, at least 2 quarts throughout the day. Our world is so full of pollutants we need to cleanse our bodies by avoiding as many chemicals as we can. We are also lacking basic minerals now days as they have been depleted from our soil. A good liquid ionic mineral taken daily, and extra magnesium which we all are lacking today will help vastly. When our bodies have been assaulted as they are with everyday stresses and bad chemicals we need to restore the damage done and add what we are lacking for better health. Be patient, it took a while to get sick and it will take a while to restore health. Stay strong and fight the good fight for your health. Blessings to you.
