Pregabalin gets more posts on this forum than any other topic! Apart from its sister Gabapentin!!

It is the 'marmite' drug...it either works or it doesn't and if it doesn't you will know very quickly

You must start slowly...100mg x 3 times a day and build up to level GP or pain consultant has stated. It is an excellent pain med but as I said...doesn't work for everyone.

If you decide it isn't for you due to adverse side effects then you MUST come off very very slowly.

But certainly worth trying.

Yes I have been on pregabalin for my neuropathy for a few years. I find it helps a lot . I do get rare episodes of pain but I can cope with this. Xx

I take it, be aware it can make you feel down at first this will pass as it’s a great pain killer it also helps you with sleep deep cell repairing sleep which also helps your pain levels xx

Hey I have lots of things going on but the pain is worse that anything I have gone through as it never goes away. pain is pain and you have every right to have a moan! You have to get out of course it’s real and it’s debilitating xx

I’ve just come off Pregablin for the second time. It was great for my helping with my pain, but I had too many side effects. Weight gain, water retention, fatigue amongst others.

I’d recommend trying to be on the lowest dose possible. First time I was up to around 375mg twice a day, where as the second time went up to 125mg but back down to 100mg. Just make sure you listen to your body.

As with all medication there can be side effects and that can vary from person to person. Very best of luck finding a tailored pain management that works for you

Sorry didn't work for you. I'm only prescribed 25mg rising to 50 mg after a fortnight. Took one 25 mg last night and was amazed at the improvement. of course just a start but fingers crossed etc. All good wishes that you find a plan that helps you

Thank you, the pain relief was almost immediate when I took it too, it was just the side effects were too much to take. I was prescribed more medication to deal with the side effects - I already rattled, then the meds for side effects came with their own issues, just wish it had been different.

Also wish it had been different for you....and the old story of being given another med. to cancel effects of first My husband(Alzheimer's. and physical probs.) experienced a lot of that He is now in care home where their doc. has stopped most of his. meds.

So sorry to hear about your husband, you have so much on. Let’s hope the pregablin gives you the break you deserve x

Yes and it works very well for me along with Volteran Gel The gel you rub on your knees, thighs, legs , elbow or anywhere the pain is. Just a light coating will do. Look it up on the internet. Another name for pregabalin is Lyrica.

Thanks for reply, I took one 25 mg last night and i was amazed at the help it gave (well gobsmacked really, - always surprised when a med works!) voltarol didn't work for me but maybe I used too much and rubbed in too keenly

I tried it but found amitriptyline better for me. I have peripheral neuropathy from a sports injury left leg only - be interested to hear a little more about yours or anything you have found to be of use.

I had tried mirror therapy - didn't work for me.

now considering scrambler therapy or Calmere

best wishes

Amitriptline worked for a time for when I had pain after shingles.....well didn't really do much for pain but helped me sleep(bliss!) An unusual thing i found helped - something I came across on the wen - was to put my feet and lower legs in a basin of cold (not icy) water for 15 mins. Depends where you hurt if this would be poss.! Best of luck with other therapies

Dear foxglove,

I don't know about your condition, other than in 'outline', or indeed the drugs that you describe. Which, I guess, makes me 'about as much use as a chocolate tea pot'. However I have heard of Cannabis being, very successfully, used in a number of Strange/Awkward/Unusual conditions. Clearly if you are in such pain, so much so, that ALL you can think about is pain, Pain, PAIN, then something needs to be Done! It sounds, to me, like you probably, do actually, cry with 'it' foxglove. If this the case, and even if it isn't, you need to tell your Doctors/Consultants.

Sorry that I can't be more help, as I said, Hopeless aren't I?

Warmest wishes anyway.

I've taken pregabalin intermiittanty for neuropathy after failed cervical surgery intermitantly over the past 18 yrs. Dosage is 75mg three times daily. I find the side effects quite bothersome but the pain relief is better than anything except high doses of narcotics to which I develop tolerance to and are no reasonable solution. Smoking or eating cannabis has proved helpful and fortunately legal here.

foxglove in reply toetheral

Good reply i also develop tolerance to narcotics (does that mean codeine?)... Wish cannabis were legal here!....Wales uk!

Hey Etheral I take 450mg daily of pregabalin and 350mg palexia it just takes the edge off but doesn’t kill the pain . These are the maximum tolerated dose for me

Yes ,codeine along with other opioid drugs are narcotics (morphine, demerol, percocet etc. Best wishes for finding a satisfactory solution.
