It is used for anxiety and seizures. Same group of drugs as diazepam which is highly addictive, never on repeat scripts, and heavily controlled.

Have you been prescribed this med and why?

It is used for epilepsy, and as such is used off licence for neuropathic pain. It can help quite a few people. Others it does nothing or very little for.

I think Bannanas5 is overstating the addictiveness, it is true it can be addictive, and cause dependence, but used in the right way, with proper monitoring it can be life changing.

Klonopin is a potentially habit-forming benzodiazepine, with some people becoming addicted to it in as little as a few weeks.

Many people have become addicted to Klonopin taking only the amount prescribed by their doctor for panic attacks and anxiety.

I rest my case

Clonazepam can be habit forming. It is very unlikely anyone will be addicted in a few weeks.

Just saying your opinion and then you rest your case doesn't amount to anything. Why are you calling the drug by its American brand name.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/204...

A decent study to show how withdrawal is possible despite years of use, and a high average dose of 2.7mg. This is about 55mg of diazepam if we convert this.

Here we have a much shorter study of only 6 weeks rather than the minimum of 3 years.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/105... - doses varied from 5mg diazepam equivalent to 80mg diazepam equivalent.

In my opinion clonazepam is one of the easier drugs to withdraw from. It has a longer half life, which makes reductions smoother. In fact a lot of doctors will switch patients from alprazolam, or lorazepam onto clonazepam or diazepam to withdraw.

I used the same drug name as the author of post...Tklowe03.

I did not give my opinion. I gave my answer based on research and medical evidence which is widely available.

This is my opinion...I hope the information provided to Tklowe03. is of some help

I have been using a benzo medication for many many years an I am not addicted to it. In fact I take less now all these years later. If you have an addictive personality you will become addicted, if you do not, you won't. Do not let getting addicted scare you away from medication that may be helping you. Try it and if you decide it's not for you can taper and get off. Like not all people that take pain meds are addicts. But the people that need the pain meds are suffering because of the people who are addicts. So again, we help the people that in my opinion do something wrong and the people that are trying to get better and do the right thing pay the penalty. It is backwards.

Yes, I use it currently along with a mild pain med. The Klonopin helps with the "stinging" I get with the nerve pain and the pain medicine deals with my inflammatory joint pain.

It's ok, but it can cause issues with your memory in the long run. That's started to happen with me so I'm looking for other options.
