Hi have had headaches for over 3 yrs, post stroke. Waiting for a call to hospital for a 10day infusion of lidocaine! Has anyone experienced an infusion like this ? Any side effects? Any pain relief?

I do know of people who have had this treatment and the results have not been very successful

Dizziness and nausea can be a side effect while undergoing the infusion but nothing serious...more an inconvenience.

Presumably your consultant has tried other meds?

Yes have tried lots of other medications etc, have had a previous drip for 3 days, don't remember what it was but was not helpful at all. Had injections into the base of my skull twice but no improvement. Headaches started the Morning after I had a stroke. No other side effects... am on amitriptyine for pain which helps a bit but still gets very bad at least once a day. Thankfully I sleep well but getting really fed up with the continuous pain.

I get Botox shots every 10 weeks on my neck and skull. This has been the best treatment for me. I get 12, 5 mg Maxalts per month. Sometimes I have some left at month end! Most time not.

I have had headaches, almost daily, for 30 years. Mine are migraine, tension and neuralgia related. I have never heard of lidocaine infusion. Anything ending in Caine sounds like it would stimulate anxiety. I have generalized anxiety. I am sorry I cannot answer your question, but am most interested in the outcome. Pls keep us informed. Best wishes and God bless, from MA, USA!

Let u know how the drip goes if n when it does. Am on a waiting list for Botox as well, have a friend who gets it and finds an improvement to her headaches.
