Breast pain after a mastectomy

I am new here.

I had a mastectomy on 8th December 2016 and am still in a lot of pain. Is this normal?

Have you told your doctor about this? Have you had any follow up appointments? It might be that you need to see a pain specialist.

I have been given Dihydrocodeine 30mg and the breast nurse wrote to my GP to suggest a referal to a pain specialist still waiting to hear frim them.

It might be worth ringing your GP surgery to see where the referral has got to and to make sure there are no problems with it. Sometimes those that shout loudest get seen. Not that I recommend shouting at the medical secretaries at your GP surgery!

Done that and had a letter to be seen soon.

Tresses I would go to Dr I had a mastectomy, I didn't,t have a lot of pain my skin opened about an inch and a half they had to keep it packed with gauze. It took a month to heal,but it didn't,t hurt. Like I said you need to tell a Dr you shouldn't,t still be hurting,I,m not a Dr but that's what I,d do. Let me know how it went I,m here if you need to talk. susiejo1948

Nearly a year down the line and still in constant pain. Saw consultant on Friday and am to go for physiotherapy as well as the pain clinic. Will let you know how l get on. Thanks for the reply.
