Genna1, hi my name is Susie I,m not a Dr so. what I say Don,t take to heart I would say it sounds like fibromyalgia. Read up on it and than ask your Dr about. Your pressure points cause the pain, you,'ve 18 pressure points . You have to have at least 11 of them that hurt when touched, you ache all over your tired you have trouble sleeping. There are some meds that help if your lucky. So far I have,NT found anything that helps that much but you might.I,'ve had it for over twenty years had to go on disability my daughter's help me clean make sure I eat. There's been a lot of nights I lay awake crying because I hurt. I hope that's not it please go to Dr and ask about it. susiejo1948i

If your back problems are caused by arthritis it is likely that it is in your neck too. Best to get a doctor to check it out.
It could also be the result of poor posture and hunched tight shoulders. With bad backs we tend to tense our other areas and create long term problems. A physio or chiropractor could advise.
I suggest being aware of how you are holding your upper back. Hunched shoulders - up or forward ? Arms crossed in front of the body frequently ? I have similar problems to you and the combination of poor habits and osteoarthritis in my neck has led to a lot of pain which is going to take a long time to resolve. Do something now before it gets bad.
Shoulder rolls and stretching throughout the day. I can describe useful exercises but a physio or chiro will.

I would agree with Dee as I have fibromyalgia cervical spondylosis with neck and shoulder pain due to osteoporosis and arthritis. I struggle cleaning windows and any jobs like that. My advice would be to get an Xray done but at the same time learn neck shoulder exercises because you avoiding these tasks worsens the situation. Also try to break the cleaning into chunks so that you work for less periods at at time but achieve your goal and reduce pain. This helps with continuing muscle function and strength. Task avoidance could make them worse. I'm sure physiotherapy can advise on the the correct exercises to do as well. Good luck and get well soon.
I don't know how old you are and I see that a few people have suggested that you might have fibromyalgia which is very possible. If you are 50 years old or older you might also consider polymyalgia rheumatica. One of the first signs of that is neck, shoulder and upper arm pain. There is a category for that on here that you might look at. And of course you can Google the disease and learn lots about it. Either way good luck to you and I hope that you find not only what you have but a solution to it as well
