Hi Lidders67, from a quick search this seems to be a form of 'Peripheral Neuropathy'. This broader term should help you to find out further informatio on treatments.

I wish you all the best; it sounds unpleasant and I hope you find the help you need.

never come across the wording tight sock syndrome, however stampede has mentioned peripheral neuropathy, how long have you suffered with your condition? People who suffer with PN myself included give various descriptions about pain and sensations that this condition entails, and rest assured I didn't realize the were that many ways to describe a intolerable and everlasting condition, have you had any tests or spoken to your GP? it's important to narrow down what's going on with your feet, diabetes can cause poor circulation in the feet,so be aware of any cuts etc,or any blistering that doesn't heal,so you could be in for the long haul trying to get a diagnosis, and try and have a healthy diet, definitely do stop smoking or drinking alcohol if this part of your lifestyle,it's very difficult trying to keep PN under control and don't expect a miracle if you get a diagnosis, nerve damage is real a problem and it's a question of just trying to manage it,so you'll find plenty of folk on this forum who have PN,and we all deal with it in different ways,so it's just a question what's going to work for you, good luck and hopefully you'll get some treatment sorted soon.

Hi Lidders67, I get that sensation did not know it was an illness, put it down to swollen feet due to other illness making my ankles feel uncomfortable. Certain drugs seem to make it worse too in my experience. Thanks for asking the question, now I have learnt something new also.

Peripheral neuropathy or just neuropathy is a terrible feeling with a fair amount of rx attempts at making your feet feel better but mess with you in so many ways!

I found a cure as such, I bought some diabetic socks, because they are loosely fitted, that sorted it out for me. If I wear ordinary socks my ankles swell and I just have sit down with my feet up.

I have this sensation too with my peripheral neuropathy, it is really weird feeling isnt it. I have found that socks with a light compression helps and also I try to rotate my ankles up and down and round and that can help but ultimately I have to wait for it to go. I try not to get anxious about the weird pains I get and just call it another odd peripheral nerve pain and try to ignore it.
