For me my gp referred me to rheumatology and it was a rheumatologist who tested and diagnosed me.

I did recently start seeing a chiropractor and he wanted to check the diagnosis of fibromyalgia so you might be able to find a chiropractor who knows how to diagnose it. You might need the chiropractor to write a letter to your gp for it to be officially added to your medical files though and your dr still might not accept it if they are a non believer in chiropractors

First of all there are no diagnostic tests for Fibromalgia, it is diagnosed on clinical examination only. Because it is a syndrome people all have different sets of symptoms. Additionally symptoms overlap with many other conditions, so it is a diagnosis of exclusion in that they usually look at other things first to eliminate them before they would give a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.

The best thing to do is take a list of all your symptoms to your GP and let him decide what to do. If after discussion and the elimination of other possibilities he doesn't mention Fibromyalgia, you could ask him to eliminate that one too and see what happens.

What doctors really struggle with is patients that come in thinking that they already know what is wrong with them. Let them look at the evidence and draw their own conclusions. So it is important to take in all your symptoms, when they started, and how it effects you. And not just symptoms you think are related to Fibromyalgia, you need to give the GP the complete picture including any psychosocial things. Those are things that might be affecting your health, such as things like a bereavement, divorce, moving house, or other stress like that.
