Sciatica : Hi I have had sciatica for 4 months... - Pain Concern
Sciatica
It varies enormously - some people have episodes of it for a long time (coming and going over years). Some people have isolated episodes that last for a few weeks or months and then don't occur again or not for a long time.
There are lots of different experiences here: healthunlocked.com/search/s...
Has your GP recommended any 'next steps' for you?
I have not had a break from it it's really sore only time I get a rest from it when I am sleeping as doc gave me tablets at night
Hi, sounds similar to my sciatica that started 2months ago. I had never had it before and it went on over a month and it was still v.painful but GP sent me for spinal xray, part of my spine has moved and trapping nerves. I now have appt with consultant. prehaps you could ask for an xray .Good luck x
I have had sciatica since I was 17 and I am now 54, nasty horrible pain and I hope you get relief from it soon
Yes, I have it. Every day. I suggest you see a physio who can work on you and also give you the correct stretching exercises.
You'll need to watch how you sit, stand and sleep.
If it's "true" sciatica, your pain will be stemming from a herniated disc. Piriformis syndrome means the sciatic nerve is generally being pinched by tight buttock muscles. Either way, the pains beggars belief so I suggest you talk with you GP and request an MRI. That way you'll know for sure whete exactly the is coming from.
Cheers
Yes i asked for mri and she said there rule that they have to apply by and because I could feel her touch my leg she said they won't do it
Don't settle for that, I after many years demanded a MRI and found many more things wrong that could of crippled me totally if treated wrongly.
It's your life and it's not for them to dictate your future
Ok I will try I am going to doc in two week so I will see if she will send me
Cheekaboo .... I don't know what STUPID rules this woman was talking about .... perhaps she could explain them to you?
As it stands: YOU are suffering from sciatic pain that is literally killing you because it hurts so much ... right? On THAT basis you NEED to have an MRI in order to establish WHERE the pain is actually coming from: a disc herniation or a trapped sciatic nerve in your glute area. WITHOUT the MRI it would be difficult to establish which treatment is best for you (including stretches) because you don't want to inflame the nerve/disc any more than it already is.
Please keep us posted ... and stand your ground - get your MRI referral. It's YOUR back, not theirs. It's YOU who lives with the pain ... NOT them.
Best wishes x
