Hi. I have suffered with sciatica since 2008. Besides pain killers ,light self oil massages to the particular leg one of the biggest help for me is a TENS machine. One of the best investments I've made. Also I found what helps is hot water bottle on my lower back and affected leg straight on a foot stool. I hope this helps
Sorry for late reply. Haven't checked in for some days. In answer to your question I'm not sure. But I have felt the nerve sit on top or side of my hip sometimes. I have hip pain but that is due to lupus. I also have perthes disease in right hip an an due a hip replacement but this precedes my sciatica. Sorry wasn't anymore help ! Hope my previous reply helped
Hi I have had really bad sciatica and bladder issues. Ended up being referred to a surgeon who did another MRI and concluded a badly erupted l5s1 herniation and operated within a week. Still suffering now but not as bad. The nerve needs time I suppose. Seeing the pain clinic now who have helped. So I suppose your first action might be to have an MRI and go from there.
I had this for about 24 yrs, only lost control of my bladder and bowel in August last year,it had been hell and i had contenplated ending it all.I was referred to a neurosurgeon after an mri was done, was operated on ,on April 27th,best day wver op took about 8 hrs i walked out of the spinal unit 48hrs after my op a new person.its been 5 months since my op and no sciatica pain and my back is nuch better.I had a couole of cages put in and a new vertebrae, best move ever.Im more than happy,i feel blessed.I hope you can get a good outcone like i did i really do.
Thanx for you're kind reply.Im having some small pain in my lower back which is nothing to complain about.I pray my sciatica never returns, its 5 months since my op and i had a hard physio session today,i have torn my inner and outer miniscus in my knee rather badly just waiting for the phone call from the hospital for my surgery.Thought i could resume all activities i had missed for so many yearsπ―,il just stick to cycling and swimming after this op.All the best take care.
