I have reached out here as we have no where else left. My husband has had issues with pain for many years but it had been manageable with quality of life. It has now been chronic for two years, since April 2015. He can no longer function, work or play with his kids. I have become the full time carer and I do not know what else I can do to help him.

He has pain through out his back constantly and other various points not as often, at times he can collapse. Currently taking co codamol 8 per day, tramadol 8 per day, robaxin 8 per day and mertazipine 1 at night also naproxen when there is nothing else but this causes big tummy upsets. Dr now looking fibromyalgia possibly. Also battling depression and anxiety with periods of self harm. Can anyone share a similar story

I cannot offer help, but I can offer hugs and prayers. It is not easy to be a care giver. Have his family watch him for an afternoon while you and girlfriends hit the day spa. Don't forget yourself.

Hello Wulfen1329 i I understand completely how you feel. I am a full time carer to my husband after he broke his back over 30 years ago.

As he has got older associated conditions have reared their ugly heads.

It IS hard and can be a very lonely time. Have you any family who can help? Join you local care group. They can offer enormous support for you both.

I am more than happy to talk with you and help in any way I can.

Please never think you are alone cos you aren't

Hey, so sorry to hear that things are so bad for you, chronic pain is something that can eat away at your soul if you let it. I have complex regional pain syndrome, have tried every drug they can throw at me and nothing was helping, so looked for a combination of medication and more holistic approach, the naproxen have ripped my digestive tract to bits but a lovely indian lady told me about something they use called "golden milk" they usually use tumeric, but i use a more concentrated for called curcumin (its the active ingredient in tumeric) mix 1/2 a tsp into milk on the hob at night and drink before bed, it helps to alleviate joint swelling, which does help, and no nasty side effects!! I have also started using cannabidiol - it has the thc (the "high" chemical removed) but has helped massively with my pain levels, and is also widely used to help with depression, anxiety, sleep problems and a whole host of other things - have a look on the web its amazing. But be careful - not all have enough of the active ingrediant in them, i get mine from a company called grape tree, it is lab tested and very reasonably priced compared to others. Hope this helps and hope you have a better day, feel free ro message me for any more info, here to help!

Get him to an Alexander technique teacher. They may be able to show him that reduced pain and better functioning is possible.

The medical profession is very reliant on pain killers and does not look at enabling better muscle functioning. This is an area of little or no knowledge in the medical profession. Worth getting him to a McTimony chiropractor to remove any muscle miro cramps in the back. This can only be investigated to see if it has a useful improvement on quality of life or not.

Hope I have been helpful.
