Hi. So sorry you're in so much pain. I had a fusion of L1 l2 and l3. And for me, yes I was unable to walk normal for a few days. And there was a lot of pain!! Part of it is our nerves that have been messed with.... They need time to calm down.

The S joint has a lot of nerves going on, so that may be it. But I'm not a doctor so I suggest giving them a call.

Also ice helped me. But double check with dr. I'm not sure on the crutches part.... I used a walker for about a month.

I hope you feel better real soon! Keep us posted! ❤

After my SI joint fusion last year my surgeon said no weight bearing on that leg for 6 weeks then on,y partial weight for 2 weeks more. Surely this question is for your surgeon to answer. I would contact him/ her immediately and ask LOTS of questions about your healing process and how you are best to proceed. I used crutches for 8 weeks and even after that used them if I had to walk for more than a few minutes.

Fusion of the SI joint is not like a higher spinal fusion as all the weight goes through that joint. The surgery will have caused massive inflammation and trauma to the joint and surrounding tissue. Treat with extreme care during the healing process which can take a long time. The fusion itself takes many months to happen.

Hi: wanted to mention that I had 2 facet injections and neither one worked; just nothing. After MRI learned that I have severe nerve problems and surgery is not a given. What to do?? Some times injections do Not work if nerve damage is the culprit. Good Luck to all, it sure is not fun living with this daily pain
