Frozen Shoulder

New to forum. Recently diagnosed with frozen shoulder. This is a bummer, man. The ache was so bad that I went to an osteopath who told me that nothing could be done and that I would have to 'suck up' the pain. Had a cortisone injection five days ago but no real relief. I am having trouble sleeping.

Try a physiotherapist. They are medically trained and are a lot better at sorting soft tissue problems out than osteopaths.

Definitely try a physiotherapist. In the UK, I'd probably try to find a sports medicine clinic for something like that as I think they are more likely to have had a lot more experience sorting out tendon/joint problems like that.

Ah the good old hot water bottle. Cures most things

Sometimes the old remedies are the best

The best treatment for frozen shoulder for me, which I have had 3 times now, was from an old fashioned physio who did some deep tissue massage .and some joint manipulation. Four sessions each time and except for the last time, it worked wonders. Initially it was a little painful but with a mix of gentle and medium/strong manipulation of the muscles and joint, I have not suffered with it since (8 years ago). The only thing that spoilt it for me was that she talked all the way through thereby preventing me from thoroughly enjoying a free massage.

Frozen shoulder is the diagnosis. The cause can be varied. Depending on the cause the treatment may need to be varied. See a doctor to carry out investigation to determine cause.

Sometimes the tendon can be damaged. This will lead to a frozen shoulder with buildup of fluid. If it is this then a course of erythromycin may help. Google "erythromycin anti inflammatory" and show the results to the doctor.

If you have bruised the shoulder joint then all you can do is wait for the bruise to disappear. Sometimes it is case of waiting for a few weeks and the shoulder will return to normal.

I have had several frozen shoulders over the years and all of them have been for different causes.

Sorry for not being more helpful.

Au contraire! You have been most helpful. A few months ago I moved a large, heavy object at an unnatural angle and felt something 'give' deep in my shoulder muscle. I pretty much forgot about it as this pain didn't come on until later. This could be an 'aha' moment.

Many thanks x

Thanks Tia. I have had a cortisone shot in my shoulder last week. I am hopeful that it will take effect soon but nothing so far. I appreciate your kind thoughts.

Cheers x
