You said she is getting stressed - you need to ask her why ? Best of all, maybe make an appointment with her to talk with someone like a psychologist or therapist ?

You want to treat the underlying cause and not just minimize symptoms - a doctor can prescribe anti-sickness medication.

Hello. Severe headaches with vomiting and often, but not always, visual disturbances or Auras are classic migraine symptons. They often have certain triggers, including hormone levels, certain foods, alcohol, harsh lighting, lack of sleep, too long in front of screens, stress etc. All stressors to us. Sometimes, it isn't one trigger, but several and one more just tips the balance. For instance, bad commute, long day in office looking at screens, and harsh lights, not enough to eat, and then an unexpected event or stressful interaction with someone can just be too much.

There are OTC medications to treat both head pain and nausea or vomiting or get your Mum to see her G.P. I find codeine and paracetamol with an ice pack applied to the temple helps. Avoid bright lights, strong smells, noise etc, as these can make them worse. They happen when blood vessels to the temple get dilated and can be extremely painful. Not like a regular headache at all.

Google 'London Migraine Clinic' it has lots of very useful info.

Hope this helps!

Regards

Emma,
