Hi guy's

I just saw my gp & asked for lidocaine patches for my neck/ back as I'd been looking for something non addictive for pain & saw some positive paitent reviews online, so Dr has given me 15 patches to see if I get any pain relief , my question is has anyone had these patches & do they help ? Because you have to put them on for 12 hours & off for 12 hours Il be putting some on first thing in the morning. Do they work???? Can't wait to try them 😊

Hi

Do you think if I use my patches during the night they would also give pain relief during the day ? I move around alot during the day & the tape I have put on the plaster feels constricting on my neck maybe at night would be better. I think Il try wearing them tomorrow night to try.

I used them for about 8yrs and found them excellent, I used to wear mine when the pain was nasty, not all the time. I used to wear them both during the day and at night depending on pain levels. I'm now allergic to Lidocaine so can't use them anymore. I really hope they work well for you.

Hope they work for you. I was prescribed them for lower back pain and they are VERY expensive. However they did not work for me. Seemed to make it worse....however, the cause of everyone's pain is different.

As others have said make sure that your skin is clean and dry with no lotions or oils on it as they won't stick. Good tip to let your skin cool down after a shower first before applying and no more than 3 at a time. If you wear them for more than the 12 hours you are more likely to get a skin reaction. Wear them the part of the day when you get the most pain. I find they work best for me with my neuropathic pain. I know they are extremely expensive and my doctor only gave them me in limited numbers so I only used them when desperate. I would think if your doctor is prepared to give them you all the time they would have a good cumulative effect. Do hope they work for you.x

I used the Lidocaine patches off & on for my lower back for several years. They are very expensive in the US-- about $5 per patch even with insurance. I think I still have some in a drawer somewhere. My knees are completely destroyed by RA but I'm too ill to have knee replacements right now. Therefore I tried to put the Lidocaine patches on my knees but no amount of medical tape would keep the patches on my knees much longer than an hour. When I was still able to work all day outside on my horse farm, I'd SWEAT the patches off even if taped! I also tried the patches on my husband's shoulder (failed rotatorcuff surgery). He couldn't keep the patches on, either, but he said they were useless against his pain, anyway. As I've posted before, I've found an OTC lotion called Aspercream With 4% Lidocaine is much better for my pain relief than the costly patches are. Also, for me & my husband, if the patch doesn't help when its first put on, it will not work better by leaving it on longer. Sorry. P.S. I thought the brand name Lidoderm patches worked better than did the generic patches which really had a problem with staying on.

Yes pony woman I live here in the UK and they are quite expensive here too around £3 per patch but so many medications gave me side effects that I wanted to try them. I have the versatis brand 5% lidocaine patch. Because I put them on my neck & I move my neck all day they peel off easily so I bought tape to stick them down. I might try wearing them at night. Someone said they have a cummalive affect it could take up to 4 weeks to feel pain relief so Il try for 4 weeks &I f no good then at least I tried.

A good tip for keeping them on the knee is to use an elastic knee support bandage. Simply pull it up over the patch and it will hold it for the 12 hours.

Hi nikk_1

Just curious do you wear them day or night? I'm struggling to keep mine on during the day so I'm trying them at night tonight. Where do you apply the patch? Mine is for neck & upper back / shoulder pain

hi I have no pattern I wear them then when I feel the pain getting to much, I wear 2 patches at one time. Its too late once the pain has got a grip its knowing how to prevent it getting to that point. when going to bed I have a hot bath stick the patches on a warm radiator 5 mins before I use them as the pain clinic told me they stick better and must admit they do. as for day time use I do the same. hope this helps
