I would be interested to know if one has tried the herb to treat pain ? from what I have read it can help cope with the pain. I understand that medical marijuana is used for MS suffers ... Thanks dear colleagues x

Cannibiniol as sold by CBD Brothers and other firms on Amazon is NOT illegal as its has no THC. The plants form whcih the oil is extracted are bred to have no THC. I take it daily for inflammation and its helpful though not a complete cure for my pain by any means. I take it for pain but it seems to have had the side effect of very much improving my depression. I've come off the anti depressant s slowly but don't need them any more.

There is a lot of research with medical cannibidiol looking like it being beneficial for a range of conditions. Its used by the NHS in some areas for MS.

This is not to be confused with smoking dope and getting stoned. That doesn't do a thing for me.

I did not say cannbininol was illegal I was referring to cannabis this is not a good drug to smoke or eat I have seen what damage it cane do to body and mind I suffer great pain and sympathy with any one trying to find pain relief may it has hit a raw nerve with me I wish you all well

The Shunk that a lot of youngsters use is very different with a THC of 36% compared to 9% in resin . I know From my pre illness life as a Probation officer ..

Hi bunny two, It is a legal drug as well,it's called Cannibinoid,I think I've spelt that right,there is an oil and a tablet. Check it out on google see if I've spelt it right ,then go see your GP. I do believe they call it CBD.

Medical use is allowed in USA and Canada, maybe in other places. As Gemini said its the legal type, not the illegal smoking or in cakes type most people associate it with here in the uk.

That isn't quite true. It can be prescribed by any doctor for any patient, BUT it is prescribed on a named patient basis (rather than being prescribed for any specific disease), which means that the doctor has to feel confident that it is the right medication for you and that it will be beneficial to you. They don't have to prescribe if they don't want to for any reason.

As far as only being for MS, I believe the new guidelines are actually to the contrary - that Sativex should generally not be prescribed for MS as there are other meds that are more appropriate (eg when it is being prescribed for muscle spasms).

Interesting article, I have been trying to obtain a prescription to trial Sativex for some time with no success. Both my Gp and Pain management consultant advise me that they are not permitted to prescribe it.

My understanding is that it Sativex is available from high street pharmacists at a price of £470 with a privately obtained prescription.

Presently I can not find where to obtain a private prescription from.

If you are wanting a legal way of doing this, then discuss it with your doctor, as they can prescribe (on the NHS) a form of medical marijuana if they believe it will be helpful for you. I think its a liquid you take.

Just wanted to ask is it MS pain you are suffering with ? I know the u.s have changed their views on the way people can use it to help with pain which has got to be a good thing(nobody should have to live in pain).unfortunately here in the UK we still seem to be a bit behind the times but as with most things we will probably follow suit with the states in about ten years time,after the powers that be decide how much tax to slap on it.

In regards to medicine and how they effect you and what you can and cannot do its purely personal,just remember that what ever you put into your body MAY ( no matter how small) have a side effect. Coffee has side effects for some people.

My point is this you choose if you think its right then do it but be aware and speak to a doctor first....but if you do go ahead good or no change post your findings here for others. Good luck and all the best.

I have it on prescription but I think i am lucky to get it .

GP's cant prescribe it I get mine from the hospital from a Dr who is trialing it but doesnt know how long it will be till he looses funding .It comes in a spray and is called Sativex.That said I have been using the herb for years now and it is great for me but its not for everyone

I'm in Lancashire my pain consultant has an reciprocal arrangement with a consultant dealing with neuro type problems /MS/ stroke etc.

My pain consultant prescribes Ketamine and the other Dr can prescribe the Sativex .I dont know how it would work in your area maybe your pain consultant could point you in the right direction

Katamine .. isn't that a horse tranquillizer that drug users abuse ? and burgle vets surgeries for? umm interesting I wonder how that works on pain

It is very effective on Pain and is delivered via a spray unlike the street drug and is only available from hospital pharmacys

You are asking a question that appears easy but is not. Cannabis dealing is illegal. This means that you have no guarantee that what you buy is the good stuff or the stuff laced with cut glass. You want the stuff for a particular purpose but there is no quality control and you have no idea if you are being supplied with super skunk or hemp with no potency that has been taken from a farmer's field.

If you live where it can be bought legally then you need to ensure that you can get stuff of standardised potency. Then it is a matter of experimenting with the dose to see if it is effective for you. Everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another.

Thank you for your in- depth post .. I know what you mean there is no guarantee unless of course you grow your own. I understand that the police have softened their response to possession of a small amount for personal use, largely due to resource cuts. I worked at a Police station until June of this year and when they had done a drugs bust the skunk was stashed at the station for a whole day .. what a horrible smell it was not like the sweet smell I remember smelling at Glastonbury back in the day ...

I found the hardest trick w using marijuana to ease my chronic pain from RA is finding the right dose (I don't like the feeling of being "high"). My brother, who for years had been encouraging me to try it, provided me w multiple intake options and helped me to find a pipe w a bowl the size of a small pencil eraser. I've learned that one puff, approximately half of the bowl, does indeed help and the mental

side effect is minimal. The relief doesn't last long though (maybe 20-30 minutes). He also gave me a couple cookies w marijuana in them that I keep in the back of my freezer. I haven't experimented much with this form but, so far, a small piece (approximately a large tablespoon) just makes me sleepy. I've found no relief from "vaping" marijuana-oil that he brought me from another state. I live in Texas where a small amount of marijuana is a criminal offense. But, still, Im appreciative to have marijuana as an option on bad days

Best answer is to buy the seeds. They can be bought legally, Then the illegal bit arises - you can't grow them.

However I do know people who have 2 or 3 plants on the go for private use.

yes it is a fact that some true medical marijuana strains contain a cannabinoid called CBD's.
