Head pain

Sharp pain in head that comes and goes for 3 days now scalp sore and tender does anyone know what it could be?

Hi Barbie I have chronic migraine which is not just one kind of headache but many kinds. I have a very sore sections of my head after certain kinds of headache just as if I have been hit by a hammer and my head bruised and that can last a couple of days after the headache. It could be you are experiencing stress/tension headache or a form of migraine. Best thing to do is to keep a diary of when you get them and what you have done/how you are feeling at the time. If they become frequent and form a pattern then take a trip to your GP with your diary. Your GP will be able to advise you further but try not to worry too much, headaches can appear drastic and very painful but are not a sign of more sinister things. Hope this helps.

Sounds very like Ice-Pick headaches, no sooner there than gone, very common amongst migraine and other headache suffers, but not uncommon amongst the general public.They are unpleasant but do not indicate anything sinister. If this is something new or the tenderness persists or gets worse see your G.P in the unlikely event it is Temporal Arteritus. Which needs treatment in hospital.
