I have just been prescribed Nefopam instead of Trammadol which isn't working for me. I suffer with muscle pain due to fibromyalgia and regular migraines (3 to 6 a week). I would be interested to hear how anyone else gets on with this drug. Ťhanks.
Painkiller - Nefopam : I have just been... - Pain Concern
Painkiller - Nefopam
Hi there,
I use this painkiller and have for many years, for me it is a sort of top up medication as I take several different painkillers 24/7 as far as i am concerned I get no side effects from taking it, I cannot give you any report on how this would work on its own as I have always taken it along with others at the moment I take:-
Dihydrocodein 120mg twice a day.
Nefopam 30mg 2 X 3 times a day.
Pregabalin 75mg twice a day.
Paracetamol 500mg 2 x 4 times a day.
Amitriptyline 50mg 2 once a day at night.
Morphine sulfate as and when required.
many years ago I use to take Tramadol but it did very little for me but I do remember it use to give me very bad migraines to start with I think my best one is Dihydrocodein but I have to say it is addictive I remember when once my perscription had got lost in the post and started to run out and tried to cut down to try and stretch what I had out but I ended up lay there shaking and sweating so I had to go to a local doctor I was in St Martin in the Caribbean and the doctor told me I must be getting them from Mexico or off the internet as it was illegal to prescribe such a high dose of Dihydrocodein I showed him the package and told him I had been taking them for many years he took down the details and said that he would have to look into it as he had not heard of them being available in that dose in the end he gave me 5 days worth at half the dose but it gave me what i needed until my next prescription came the cost was $25 to see the doctor, $25 for him to make out a prescription and $100 for 10 tablets I am so glad here in UK we get them free from the NHS.
good luck in finding what works for you to lower the pain you feel.
Regards Poppy Ann.
I am taking Nefopam, was prescribed it last year for Osteoarthritis.
I also have Rsd/CRPS, Severe Raynaud's Disease, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Daily Migraine Syndrome....the list goes on.
I have found it to be incredibly helpful to me, not only for the Osteoarthritis, which became advanced very quickly, but for many of my other symptoms of other disorders. I have to take six tablets a day, also 900mg Gabapentin and Topamax...no other pain relief allowed because of the chronic migraine situation. I also have to take other drugs for other issues.
Tramadol gave me the most horrendous reaction after just one tablet, so I am never allowed to take one of those again.
How long have you been taking Nefopam ? Sometimes you have to let them get into your system a bit.
If not, your Dr can help with something else, I am sure.
I actually start tomorrow. I had to gradually come off Trammadol as I had been taking it for so long. I will be taking a low dose to begin with. Oh I hope they are as effective with me. I also take gabapentine, topiramate, amytryptaline and acetozolomide to prevent my migraines, all are supposed to be helpful with fibromyalgia. The fb is new to me, the migraines I have had for 16 years. I am so glad they have helped you, sometimes it's hard to mix and match the right combination. Thanks for responding. Wish you well.

Thank you Poppy Ann for your comments. We sound very similar in the medication that we take except the morphine and the dihydracodiene. I find the dihydracodiene does absolutely nothing for me so I stay with cocòdamol. Thank you too BeccaWhite I appreciate all you positive words. Hopefully the Nefopam will work just as well for me as it does for you two. Best wishes.

I find tramadol and arcoxia better although on bad days even morogobe doesn't work x gabapentin was a waste of tone and put 2 1/2 stone on so that was horrible x just keep trying bit be firm with doc as to what works for you x
Hi, I take Tramadol & Co-dydramol for severe back/neck & joint pain. I have a review due at the GP's & wondered about asking if I could try Nefopam. Does anyone have ideas which of the 2 I take, the Nafopam would work best with?
Thanks, Sophie
