I had a double knee replacement last year and am doing ok with that but I just cannot get off the last two tramadol . I have come down from six daily but the final two are a struggle as it affects my mood and causes depression . Thanks would appreciate any advice :)

Have you discussed with GP. In my opinion its a horrid drug. Maybe you need mild sedation just for a few days to get it out of your system and your mind. Sounds drastic but I felt I was cracking up after just a few weeks on them

Yes GP useless just suggested weaning self off but last two I became very down and paranoid. Its such a shame that my knee problem resolved but now faced with another. I just didn't expect this and fear I'm stuck, really frustrating but will look on website thank you so much for taking the time to reply

hey there, yes tramadol is an evil drug to come off of, I had the same problem a few years back when a slip on a concrete breaker resulted in 23 bone breaks and a dislocation in my ankle. was only on the tramadol for four weeks but that was enough - I ended up going cold turkey for from the last two, it made me feel really rough for two weeks with vomiting, shakes, temperature spikes, headaches, mood swings and lethargy. If you can make it through the two weeks its like breaking through a barrier and the other side is heaven. Diazepam (mild 5mg dose) may help take the edge of the worst of the symptoms but that can make you sleepy so be careful if driving etc.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you I have tried but was very ill and sadly couldn't due to my job (counsellor) be effective . Its such a shame that no support is offered and I've been on it for around two years .
