Cake: Have you all heard about the film Cake... - Pain Concern
Cake
Hello katwilson
Nope not heard of it bu lisstened to the clip.
Someone, maybe her Doctor asked if she wanted to get better Pause and she said yes.
Not sure that is how sudfferers of CP can relate to that coment. Sadly CP never gets better - just managable and bearable hopefully.
Might give out the wrong image of CP.
But might be good.

I think we can all relate to that comment, I certainly can. My GP, Surgeon and Physio haven all asked if I want to get better. Of course I do, we all do don't we? Just because we have chronic pain, doesn't mean we don't want to get better. I'm better, I'm better than I was, I'll never get rid of chronic pain now, but that doesn't stop me wanting to make things better for me. I think that you would need tee th whole film to,understand what she was trying to say, that was just a small clip. I think it could be good.
Yes agree everyone wants to get 'better' in yje dame wau they want to work again, play rugby, cut the grass, even wash the dishes. Reality says otherwie but we all have hope.
Maybe afte 30 years of seing David degenerating all we can hope for is new drugs or treatments that can keep him on an even keel.
No one, in all those years, has asked if he wants to get better. Rather like asking me with no eyes if i would like to see again!
Wait and listen to the fiem and then we can all join in with views. Should be lively!!

Release date is 20 Feb let's hope it does make it to cinemas.
hello catwilsono4, I have just watched the trailer of this film and think Jennifer Anniston is a great actor always. I have just googled this to find out when it is released in the uk and I think it will be February 20th 2015. looking forward to watching this it looks really good.ime sure many of us can relate in one way or another.
Interesting. Pity I can't go to watch it as sitting causes too much pain !!!!!
really looking forward to it, but won't spread the news until I've seen it as I'd rather not have others make assumptions about me from hollywood film - yet!
Thanks for sharing.
I watched this film (a sneaky copy!!) great film some parts I totally related 2 her, other parts was totally heartbreaking (she lost her son) ! She has a answer 2 her pain (she was in a car crash) unfort 4 most of us it's just r bodies.. But really worth a watch some parts really made my partner think on how I am feeling!

Good for JA making a film like this! Haven't seen her interviewed about this role. No doubt she wouldn't actually get the chance to talk about cp as they'd be hounding her about boyfriends! I imagine it will go straight to DVD or end up in obscure, independent cinemas!
Hopefully members will be able to resist in posting spoilers before the majority have had a chance to watch it or at least make clear that their post will include such. It is very likely that there will not be a simultaneous release in all countries.
I have seen the film. I found it quite painful to watch. The background story about the son dying was important but it mainly focused on her relationship to her chronic pain which was unbearable. Things like putting the car seat flat is what I do too. It made me well up. My pain management psychologist said that most of her patients related to the scenes of her in bed. (I've just realised there are people who may want to see the film and if I go on I will ruin the story.). One problem that I also related to was having to go into withdrawal. She had help in hospital and over here I had to go cold turkey for 8 months. There are no wards here for people who need inpatient help.
