I get a very sore chest at times and it feels like someone is stubbing into my chest it also gets very tight. And when I reach up it gets thighter it normally last for three to four hours is this normal? I can't go out on my own every time I go I fall so I use a walking stick on one side and my husband holding my hand on the other side. I have got Cerebella ataxia and cerebral palsy. And I can't go to the doctors because I don't want to panic my husband as he has got bad stess levels.I hope someone can help me as it is scaring me because I have got a teenager.

Hi Jeannie,

I was very alarmed when I read your post. You say you don't want to worry your husband but your health is a priority, please phone your doctor and ask for a visit if you can't get out. I will keep you in my thoughts, take care and please come back to us to let us know how you got on.

Ring the NHS help line when this happens and the will get a Dr to come to you. ALL chest pains are potentially serious and should be checked out straight away. Don't panic, just get it seen to x

I agree, given your underlying conditions I would get it checked but I wouldn't worry. It sounds like muscle spasms between your ribs. I have this and really does feel like you can't breathe and there is something seriously wrong. Because it's your chest, if you call 111 or any other NHS advice line , they will strongly ergde you to call 999. I would make a telephone appointment with your GP or go and see them in person.

For me it was as simple as needing more potassium (which helps stop muscle spasm). I truly hope that it is that simple for you. Please do let us know what you decide to do. And what the outcome is. I always wonder "what happens to people".

Please do get it seen to though. By putting it off your going longer without possible treatment. Even if you lie to your husband and say the appointment is for something else.

I wish you all the best with this.

I don't wish to alarm you nor do I wish to make light of it. I can only echo the posts above. Until you know for certain what is causing this you have take it seriously.

I appreciate that you do not want to cause your husband unnecessary stress but neglecting this could be the cause of a far greater stress if it is something that needs urgent treatment. GP's are always booked days and days in advance, until you mention chest pain. I was asked if i could be brought to the surgery and then offered an appointment for ten minutes later.

Please ring. Rib
