Has anyone tried a seated exercise DVD? Due to extreme pain in feet and legs I can't do conventional exercise like walking or swimming. I'm turning into a real wibble wobble blob and wondered if anyone else had tried seated exercise. There are a few on Amazon that come highly recommended. Any advice gratefully received.

Seated exercise anyone?
I use Move it or Loose it DVD's, there is a website for them where purchase from, you will be able to read up on them to see if these will help you. They are chair exercises and you even do the 'CanCan!', which makes me smile when I do this sitting on my chair. Having said that they are designed for people who have limited movement, before each session the lady advises on different scenarios if you are unable to do certain exercises. I mentioned these when I went to physio and they agreed it would be of benefit.
Forgot to mention that I have Psoriatic Arthritis which affects my feet and ankles, so understand where you are coming from. There are four different ones although I purchased all four (it was cheaper to do that), I am only doing the first one at the moment until I feel more able to do the next one.
They sound good. I used to do a lot of cycling, running and walking so mentally as well as physically I need to do something! I'll look them up and go on from there. Thank you x
Exercise comes in two forms. There is exercise to increase endurance. There is exercise to increase muscular skill and function.
There is also exercise which can help both arms and legs as a result of using the spinal reflexes. This requires a bit of research to find out about how the muscles of the arms and legs coordinate together. This way you can use arm and hand exercises to work on the leg muscles.
If you are interested in finding out more I can give you more details.
Many areas have exercise activities including Chairbased Exercise sessions.See Active Derbyshire website.Your GP or physio should be able to point you in the right direction, in your area. i have been an Instructor for over 10 years and people really enjoy it and have a laugh as well as improving their muscle strength and balance..EXTEND also do classes.
Thank you for that info. My neurologist has said that it's over to the pain clinic. They keep trying different drugs that either don't work or have such side effects that I'm semi comatose! I don't see a physio and never have so I've taken the plunge and ordered a DVD from Amazon. The only problem I have with exercise groups - which I would really love - is that I work and those
that I have found in my area (rural Scotland) are held during the day. I have an appmt at the pain clinic next week and will ask about any groups.
I've got a foot pedal. Where you can sit reading or watching tv and pedal, to improve circulation. The only trouble is I forget to use it. I will do soon!
