Hello
It sounds like now you have a trapped nerve, could you have damaged yourself while at school. The GP could try Amytryptalene an some NSID medications to reduce swelling. Try some over counter pain control if the GP will not give medications
Personally I would be persistent and ask for medications to get rid of pain, it would seem you have some nuro problems so you could start there
BOB.
have you ever been seen by a rheumatologist and checked out for ankylosing spondylitis? Would be worth ruling that out if you have had chronic back pain since teenage years. Unfortunately GPs dont know a lot about AS, so tend to miss the signs. The key thing is trying to decide whether its inflammatory back pain or mechanical back pain. Check out this slide show. The criteria for inflammatory back pain is on slide 7 rheumatology.org.uk/include...
If you think its inflammatory, then tell your GP and ask them to refer you to a rheumatologist.
A trip to the neurologist is where I would start. You probably need a MRI
of the lower back and cervical spine. I think that it's the only way to get
a better diagnosis. Don't leave that office of the GP without pain medicines.
Make sure that you are drinking a lot of water. It helps to make the pain medicine
work better and can alleviate dizziness. It's possible that infection might be
going on if those are not really hot flashes.
Thanks everyone for your advise. I have written down all my symptomse and have an appointment with the Dr. Will be making a few demands I think. Thanks again
Hi saga, your post could have been written by me as I have chronic back pain along with nerve pain in my legs almond with pins and needles and numbness in the foot. Do you take any medication from the doctor from you symptoms, as I have a combination of 4 or 5 different ones and I was wondering if I could suggest something you could ask the Dr to try
Your GP sounds useless, I'm sorry to be blunt but as a chronic pain sufferer for 24 years I am sick of the fight we need to have with some healthcare professionals (don't get me wrong, some have been amazing). My advice to you is find an amazing GP, who will refer you for x-ray, MRI scan, possible referral to neurologist, orthopaedic, surgeon, rheumatologist. Your symptoms could be due to several things, but what you are suffering is not normal and there will be a reason for your symptoms. In a polite way, 'kick some a**!!' good luck x
Firstly I would like to wish you well....
I myself, don't have a good track record with my GP's, we have 3 in our small practice and I will only see one, he does Monday & Friday's.
I suffer with pins & needles too, on which I get in both hand's, arms and legs. On which I occasionally suffer with cramp at back's of my leg's.
Am on baclofen for muscle spasms, Neurofen, MST....
Take Care
