So it seems wrist surgery, removal of a bone, is the next step. Sounds awful!

Discharged from rheumatologist. Referred to orthopaedic surgeon.. Again!
Is that for carpal tunnel? It's so frustrating all the back and forth, waiting...waiting. Best wishes.
Why bone removal, seems a bit drastic?
It's for arthritis of the wrist. I thought it seemed drastic too! It's just a small bone, or maybe three! But having read up on it - a fusion looks a better option, as bone removal can lead to arthritis in the adjacent bones! What's the point of that?!
But fusion leads to reduced movement. ..
How is your arthritis caused. Before you do anything drastic like surgery you need to have an understanding of what is driving the arthritis.
Muscle spasms in the long run can cause arthritis. If the muscle spasms are not treated than the surgery is going to leave you in a worse mess.
Find a sports physiotherapist who can check your muscles out and see if they are functioning as they should.
It is easy to label something as arthritis because x-rays show bone damage. What x-rays do not show is the muscle spasms which cause bone damage. Muscle spasms do not show up on x-rays and orthopaedic surgeon have a tendency to ignore or not know about muscle behaviour.
I don't have spasms that I notice. Can you have them without noticing?
I have had lots of bone removed or 'shaved' from my feet to make it more comfy when walking i was 17 the first time they did it but sumtimes they grow back i believe they are called bone spurs i think the operation was worth the pain relief
