After having my op in october to remove my rather large BOC, I thought i could finally start living life again. I even got a puppy which has been great for me as I found it so hard to get out of bed every day. Now it seems I have a big Incisional hernia. Tried to get a GP appointment this week, couldnt get one, told to phone monday morning!!
Has anyone else had this problem??

Hi Louise,
I have an incisional hernia, but I didn't go to the GP about it...my medical oncologist (the one I have my check ups with) referred me back to the oncology surgeon for him to decide the best course of action to take.
If you go via your GP you might be sent down the wrong route so you are best seeing your oncology team.
That makes alot of sense. I will ring my nurse on monday morning.
Thanks for the reply. I hope you are well.

Hi Louise,
I don't know how you know it's an incisional hernia, has someone told you this? I thought it was the cancer back and at my routine checkup, I mentioned the lump to my oncologist, he did say it was an incisional henia and then sent me back to the surgeon, the surgeon said he could operate but it was a major operation and there was no guarantee that it would be a success and as I had already been through a lot it might be better to wait, anyway I later had a recurrence so went on more chemo so I still have an incisional hernia, there are other people on this site that have had the operation done, I just mention this to inform you that they will discuss the options with you... best wishes love x G x
Hi Gwyn. Well im hoping it is a hernia. It has crossed my mind that it is another tumor!! Its at the top end of my scar above my belly button. It seems that when i use my stomach muscles it pokes out more, its about 5ins and im not in pain but it is uncomfortable.
I have one of those! I did go to my GP who confirmed it was a hernia. He asked me if I wanted it fixed or not. I have said not at the moment as I feel I have had so much "down time" with op and chemo, that I don't want any more at the moment. That said, it's not too uncomfortable but I can see me getting it fixed at a later date. Just seems the icing on the cake doesn't it? Bah!
