Been doing a bit more poster and beat it card placing yesterday , targetting hair dressers at the moment ..on my rounds I bumped into someone I used to work with years back called Debbie and she now works with ladies in our Red light district in Norwich not that we have a big areas but we do have them .
I asked her if she would like some of the posters ect to get the awarness out and about and she said it would be a great idea and she has access to our womens refuge too here in Norwich .
She turned down the cards as they would be used for 'other things ' so I will leave her a parcel of posters at the health centre she works out from .
Debbie and her team go out at night with a van making sure the girls are ok and just to keep an eye on them and make sure that they get some kind of health care and checks .
These girls need a bit of prompting to look after themselves and be aware of womens cancer .

Well done glad you are doing your bit it is good to hear....very innovative and Wendy will be pleased...she was on earlier but she is still in Skiathos... enjoying the sun... I bet all your apple cake is gone!!! hmmmmm Yummy !! ....after I went to my cancer support group my husband (Tony) and I went for a walk up the beach ...it was really sunny.. but I got home exhausted..so have not done much today teehee love x G x
As long as the cake isn't 60 years old haha now you're trying to put me to shame baking? Baking?.. What's that?.. I like the tactic though buying a cake that Brian doesn't like... haha... I'll have to try that one...I forgot to say I had cramp all night ....
Its a lovely chocy cake ..B got fed up a few years back now when I was forever making those friendship cakes which contain dried fruit , one would take out a cup of the mixture and pass it on then it would have to be fed before you cooked it ... it was rather nice ...Not sure but it might have started in Germany ..
It had a yeast base as it would bubble away ....
Mum in law got out her Bero book and said try this ...so we did ...and have made it ever since ....
Am sure cake is good for cramp ..... or a large Gin and tonic !!!!
Cake it will have to be... as I'm Teetotal ...what a hardship..haha it sounds delicious..you'll have to start a blog on recipes..what with Annie's bread and Icecream and your cakes and hmmmm what else?
Hi Jan, have just been reading the above and you reminded me about the friendship cake. Do you still have the recipe? I used to make it about 30yrs ago and I think your right it did come from Germany. I haven't baked in years but over the last few weeks I've had the urge to make cake again and it is all my (and my late mother in law's) old recipes I'm using.
Thanks for your message , sorry no I do not have the recipe but my daughter was talking about it the other week now will have to ask her but it could have been that someone at school where she teaches had one on the go or it was scouts where she is asst scout cub leader .
They were rather nice ..... I just love fruit cake and christmas puddings ...
Hi Jan, thank you for replying. Please don't go to any trouble, I could probably google it. I love fruit cake and have made a couple recently. I have had the urge to get back to basics.
Dear Jan, it's brilliant you're putting the cards and flyers round. I've just got a pack and you've motivated me to start. How lovely to catch up with a colleague from the past and to hear about her job. These women need help and someone to talk to. It just shows too how each of us can do our bit towards spreading information about Ovarian Cancer and whilst this is rewarding in itself your experience shows how enriching it can be getting out and about.
I hope you are going to go further down the page to read..Tweetingasme poem ....as it is from all of us...Jan already commented it will be disappearing soon you know what it's like..I thought I'd post it before she has gone...love x G x
Just want to get the message out there if we can help at least a few ladies to get to the Doctor sooner rather than later ..I count my blessings I went when I did and I thought it was just my bladder ..........
Debbie and used to work at a special hospital in the 70s for adults and children with severe disabilites .
A wonderful job ..taught me a lot about life ..
You are so right when you say these women need that bit more help and Debbie and her team are doing just that .
