raise ca125

hey ,

I had the ca125 blood tests and results came back at 57. Have my scan tomorrow. I am a mum of 3 young children and I’m terrified that it will be something sinister. I was on my period when I had the blood test and when I asked my Gp she said a period shouldn’t affect the results however I’ve been reading everywhere that it can. Any advice ?

I had a raised CA125 test of 65. A a mass on my left ovary was picked up on an MRI I had done on my back so I was sent for bloods and put on the 2 week pathway. When I saw the Consultant he said that he would only be worried if my CA125 was in the hundreds or thousands. Lots of things cause a raised CA125 like hormonal changes or benign cysts. The mass in my case is a 7cm Endometrioma. I won't say try not to worry as it is our natural instinct to worry. Hope you get on ok x

Of course you're going to be worried. Lots of things can affect the CA125. When will you get your scan results? Best of luck! x

hopefully it’s nothing. If, God forbid, it is, please know that I was diagnosed in 2008 and am still here. Praying for you!
