Rising CA125

I have been On Rubraca for three months and have just had a CA125 blood test. Before starting Rubraca my reading was fourteen but is now twenty two. Obviously I am concerned that the par p is not working. I did have the C ovid vaccination six days before the blood test and I know there has been some speculation that this could make a difference. Had anybody else experienced this?

Most people have elevated CA125 after COVID. We discussed it in a support group and almost 90% of the ladies said this

Thank you.

It’s worth remembering that (I was told when being monitored for OvCa) anything under 30 is within the normal range for CA125. I’d think it’s more than likely that the vaccination is the cause of this slight rise. Xx

Hi Jenny, I've been on Rubraca for about six weeks, my Ca125 was 14 , I had my blood test three days before my vacination ,it went up to 19 , anxious for my next one on the 26th ,but everyone said the same ,I had the same fears as you but oncologist wasn't concerned.xxCheryl.

My oncologist doesn't test for,CA125 very often, so I sometimes have to add it surreptitiously to the blood form! I will do again in a few months.

My oncologist told me to add it to the form as it had been left off!

I ticked the ca19 (pancreatic) box one time surreptitiously! It came back at 17. Seems to have the same ‘normal’ scale as CA125, i.e. up to 35. This is the first and only time Ive admitted that, you drew me out ladies!!

I have my next blood test on the 26th but won't see oncologist until June, I really want a CT scan to see what's happening ,but he won't do that till I've been on it for three months, we all hate the waiting and wondering, from what ivy heard it sounds like the vacination was the problem.xxCheryl

I finished chemo last October and my CA125 was 17. In December I started on Rubraca and my CA125 went to 10. After my first covid jab it went to 12, then following the second jab it went to 17. So I am hoping that it was the jabs that caused the increase i will know tomorrow as I had my blood test today. All these figures are small increases but still a concern to people like us. My Oncologist said that things are still within normal range, but like you it makes you wonder if Rubraca is working. I feel well in myself which is good. I hope things stay ok for you.

I feel pretty well too, so let's hope Rubraca is working for us both. I do hope your blood results are positive. I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for you, so do let us know.

Hi Jenny, Just to let you know my CA125 has gone up to 28. My Oncologist said because I feel so well don't worry, and carry on with the Rubraca. It is difficult not to worry, but I cannot change anything so see what happens next month.

I wonder constantly if it's working , won't settle until I've had my first scan, I'm sure it's the vacination, but there's always a niggle of doubt.Hope your results are good ,let us know.xx

Hi Cheryl, My CA 125 has risen by 11 to 28, but my Oncologist said not to worry because I feel so well. Easier said than done as we all know.

Hi there. Sorry if I’ve missed a post but how was your CA125? Has it gone back down?

Hi Just got my results CA125 has increased by 11 and is now 28,but I have been told not to worry, which is difficult.

Yes it’s very hard not to worry. I had my results Tuesday and mine is still stable, well up 2, but I don’t feel at all good. So now I’ll worry that it wasn’t telling the truth especially as my oncologist always says we shouldn’t place too much on the CA125! Everyday is a leap of faith at the moment. Courage required at all times. X

Yes my ca125 went up 30 pts after first jab, it has now come back down several weeks later

That is interesting, I am hoping mine will go down again. So in total mine has gone up by 18 points since I had both jabs. The good thing is I feel really well.
