my mum had her debunking surgery 4 weeks ago yesterday and was told at the time the surgery had gone perfectly and she was NED.
We went in today for the appointment to plan the chemo and the Registrar said that actually when the MDT had later reviewed the op they’d noticed microscopic cancer cells on the bowel resection line. Although lymph nodes had been negative.
I’m feeling a bit flat about this all now - it felt like we’d had great news but now I’m not so sure? Has anyone else had similar?
thank you!

Don’t talk yourself out of good news! Debulking is supposed to get all the visible cancer out-but then the mop up chemo goes in to finish the job. So your Mum is on track, which is great news xx
Hi, I agree with what Lyndy just said about the chemo mopping up the microscopic cells. That information should give you some relief. Hang in there and keep thinking positive. Sending a hug and well wishes, Donna.
I absolutely agree with my fellow warrior women here. It is good news. And how great is it that the lymph nodes were negative. Keep telling mum the good stuff. You're doing a wonderful job. XX
thank you all! I appreciate this - I was pretty certain that this was still a good outcome from the op but the way the registrar phrased it made it sound like a negative and quite scary! Thanks for alleviating my concerns xxx
