My 80 year old mum was told after three excellent responses in chemo the last two she became platinum resistant and progression in the lungs. Some thickening of the lining
the consultant said the only option was caelyx but due to her age and possible brutal side effects and probability of not much gain he would not advise it. She has been handed straight to palliative care. She looks well and feels well at this time
I am struggling to understand no more treatment after frontline only no maintenance nothing
has anyone had just caelyx with a good response? What were the side effects?
Thank you

Hi. I had caelyx with carbo but didn’t think the side effects were that awful. What about weekly taxol? A lot of people get that once they’re platinum resistant. I would definitely get a second opinion asap.
Hi. I was on it twice first time 3 years ago with minimal side effects. The 2nd time we stopped after 3 months because it affected the heart. Normally they give you a thorough heart exam before you start Good luck
hi there, understand your confusion but regret cannot advise other than to say a 2nd opinion maybe worthwhile. Have had Caylix, not recently, recall. Coped ok but we’re all different & you have to be guided by the DR’s . Good luck Iside
