Caelyx?

Hi Ladies

Just started 4th Line chemo with Caelyx only as now considered platinum resistant.

Has anyone had this and managed good results.

Many thanks

Janet

Hi I have not had Caelyx, because I have a heart valve problem which I have had for years with no problems, but the Inc suggested I went on carbo /gem which I am hoping to start shortly for a first recurrence.

Good luck,I really hope the treatment works for you.xx

Dear Janet,

I have only had Caelyx combined with Carbo, so I have no idea how effective it is on its own.

As you probably know, I am at a road block in my treatment with Carbo and Gem.

I might not get either again, at least not for a while, and I was thinking about Caelyx, but I do remember it also being hard on neutrophils, so that’s probably not an option for me, either.

If it’s hard in your bone marrow, it means it is hard on quickly dividing cancer cells, too, so it might actually be very effective.

I wish you much luck.

Hugs,

Laura

Hi Laura

Thanks for reply. I was given an injection to use at home, Lonquex which was to boost immune system.

Might be an idea for you.

Good luck with everything.

Like Lara my only experience is the Carbo/Caelyx combo. Now beginning to look like l might be becoming carbo resistant, so will be interested in following your experience.

Hope this is successful for you Janet.

All the best.

Sylvia

Hi Sylvia

Having a few up and down days at the moment.

Should have second infusion on Friday depending on bloods.

Interested to hear you kept your hair. Did you use the cold cap?

You don't lose hair with Carly. It just goes lifeless and bit thin. I had it with cisplatin. Was pretty hellish but it worked. Some of that could have been the cisplatin.

Good luck.

Caelyx

Hi Janet. I was given Carbo/Caelyx For my first recurrence. I had 3 large tumours which were reduced by two thirds after 6 months. I found the first two difficult and reduced the Caelyx by 30% and managed it much better. I lost a some of my hair but not all. I still have tumours of course but I’m now on Rucaparib now hoping that will stabilise my cancer. I’ve had stage 3c since early 2018

All the best and love

Hi Angela

Thanks for reply.

Lots of ups and downs at the moment

Lots more pain and discomfort so very apprehensive.

Been stage 4b since diagnosis in 2016, no ops possible.

No known primary.

Hope everything goes well for you and the Rucaparib works well and holds everything at bay.

Best wishes

Janet

I was on carboplatin but became platinum resistant, so now on caelyx. I’m having my 4th treatment tomorrow. No hair loss with either but very body tired with caelyx. I don’t seem to get the bounce back days in between. Had bad constipation this last time and the body pains, my tummy gets very sore. Also very red itchy hands. I use moo goo and Hamilton cream and they are good. Friends tell me I look well and they joke with me that I’m not sick. So I guess that’s good to hear. Good luck and let’s know how you make out. Ca was 220 last time came down 50 as it went up on 2nd go but I was expecting that as onc had warned me that would happen, he was pleased it was as low as it was, so I’m pins and needles about tomorrow. I was scheduled for 4 treatments but it looks like I’ll have to have 6 or more to get back to remission again , fingers crossed 🤞

Hi janwen52, I had carbo/caelyx and found it ok. Definitely no worse than initial chemo. I think I had the awful taste in my mouth for a few days and was a bit tired in the afternoons but otherwise all manageable. Kept hair too! Good luck and take care, sticky3006
