I had my final (18th) Avastin on Monday. The overwhelming feeling is relief; relief to have finished and to be here to have finished. I am also hoping to have a period of freedom from medical treatment for the first time in 2 years, and hopefully all the joint and muscle aches will subside a bit.
It's all so positive but this niggly little voice tells me the Avastin has been doing it's job and that my cancer will grow for coming off it because I am on no medication. I don't want that negativity to spoil things so I am challenging it as best I can. I see my Oncologist on Monday so I will discuss monitoring with her.
Has anyone had similar? Any positive post-Avastin experiences?

Hi Morini I’m 5 years NED now. I was also pleased when the Avastin stopped and the thrill of no treatments. But like you the niggle of what now. But don’t dwell on that - live. No one knows how long we have got. I still have my CA125 checked twice a year which is reassuring. Enjoy life now xx
Thank you, it's very helpful to know that your NED was not dependant on the Avastin. That niggle is so annoying, I was really positive about no treatment, then it snuck its way in. I'm hoping that having a known monitoring system will help me boot it back out!
So grateful for Avastin. It kept me in remission for a really long time, then I had a reoccurrence, and had to go back to chemo, but then I went on maintenance Avastin afterwards. I understand, perhaps taking a break so you could have more Avastin in the future if needed, but please be vigilant with your bloodwork and scans to make sure nothing is brewing. Good luck to you.
Thank you, I hope Avastin works as well this time for you as it seems to have done for me. I think once I have that monitoring regime in place I might be able to settle my mind down again. I see my Oncologist on Monday so not long to wait!
