I’m having my 1st recurrence. I’m stage 4. Had debulking surgery and x6 carbo supposed to be with taxol but I was allergic to the taxol. I then had 10 Avastin infusions before it stopped working.
Today was my first chemo with Carbo along with Caelyx and I had an allergic reaction to the caeylx.
I’m so upset and worried. I see my oncologist on the 19th to discuss what’s next.
Anyone been in the same situation and if so what treatment were you given next?
Many thanks 🙏

I think the plan for next time is for extra pre meds the day before and then slowing it down. They tried that when I had an reaction to the taxol and it didn’t work I still had an reaction. But fingers crossed it works next time. Xx
Hi. when I started carbo/caeylx I took reaction after 15 mins., doctors stopped the chemo and gave me meds to help, can't remember what, then they started it again but slowed down by 50%. Every chemo session after that it was slowly upped a bit faster and I had to take steroids the day before a chemo session, I'm now on parp inhibitors, good luck on the 19th
Like Patricia, I had a reaction to Caelyx/carboplatin. I did okay with Taxol and cisplatin on frontline. Second line, within a few minutes of starting the Caelyx, I began to feel poorly—weak and felt as though I would pass out. Caelyx was stopped for about twenty minutes (until I felt better), then restarted at a slower rate. I did fine after that. I just started third line with cisplatin with Gemzar/gemcitabine yesterday. So far so good (knock wood). Perhaps this combo will work for you. I sure hope so, WillowsMum. 🙏🏽🤞🏽
Hi there. I've been on Caelyx+ carbo for third line of chemo. Luckily I have not developped any side effects. Therefore, after 5 infusions my marker started to go up, so I'm put on Niraparib (Zejula) from begining of December. No much hope it will work (no BRCA mutation) . Gemzar+oxaplatine would be the last option for me, but I have the creatinine level too high, so I have to solve kidney issue first. If you are still allergic to Caelyx, maybe your drs will try Gemzar instead. Sending Happy New Year from Switzerland.
Hi - I lost your details as I had to rejoin ovacome when I couldn’t log in a few months ago. I just wanted you to know I’m thinking of you and really hope you find the right treatment soon and that all goes well on the 19th. Sending love Shan xx
I can't add much more than the other ladies but I just wanted to say my mum was stage 4 for over 6 years, she was on a number of trials after the traditional options ran out. I know options are different for everyone but there are lots out there
I had carbo/Caelyx for my last round of treatment and had a reaction to Caelyx very quickly after it started (unbearable throbbing pain in my back) they stopped it for a short while then slowed down the infusion and it was fine. Had it slowed down every session after that, no more problems. Wishing you the very best with treatment and finding the right option.
