GemCarbo (+MVasti) hair loss?

Friday 10/28 was day one of cycle two of this new regimen for me. It's my third round/line of infusion chemo. I was stable for almost two years on Lymparza. I was told to expect not to lose my hair but "maybe" "some" "thinning.".

Today my hair is coming out in long groups of strands whenever I touch my head just like it did when it started to fall out on paxil/carbo! Part of me is like dial it back, you can lose a lot of hair and have it still be ok, and part of me is like go you, your going to be the one person who manages to lose your hair.

Hair IS the least of my concerns, but it is good to be able to give my young nephews time to process and my daughter time to prepare my granddaughter.

Did anyone here lose their hair with GemCarbo? Or have a dramatic thinning that caused momentary panic?

Thank you so much! It's even a consolation that it got thin but didn't fall out. Maybe that was just a big shed 🤣

Hi,I received second dose of gem Carbo a week ago. So far I haven't noticed hair loss. I would hate if that starts happening but still carry on if it's doing the job. I hope your hair liss is just momentary.

Best wishes, Martine. xxx

Yes, carrying on. We carry on through worse! I was just so shocked! You'd think I'd be used to cancer sucker punching me

I know, and I'm so sorry. The first time I really broke down in this whole process was when my hair fell out. Not because I'm precious about my hair, just that it made it real. Suddenly there was a cancer victim staring at me in the mirror. My heart goes out to you and I hope its just a minor glitch, not full hair loss xx

Right? IT's not really about my hair, I lost it before and it grew back. It will grow back again. My eyelashes frankly grew back nicer. It is about the unexpected nature of it I think. I just feel INSULTED 😆

I did not lose my hair on this treatment although it did thin a bit, but not noticeably. Hopefully you will be the same and the strands you have just lost were on their natural shedding process. Fingers crossed for you xxx

thank you so much! That's so reassuring! I am going to think positive and this was just an initial shed! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer 💚

Hi,

I understand your feeling on the matter. It’s one more thing happening to you. I lost most of my hair on Carbo & Gem in 2018.

I had two infusions of Carbo &Gem in August this year, before becoming allergic to Carbo, and lost most of my hair again. I moved to Taxol in September and got the rest of my hair shaved off before I started. I have to admit that I hate my shaved head but my hair is starting to grown back. I’ve had four infusions of Taxol and have two more to go and my hair appears to be growing throughout.

I’m on third round of chemo too there’s nothing easy about it 🤢

Good luck with it!

Anne

Maybe you and I are two odd men out whose hair doesn't like Gem. My hair continues to come out whenever I touch it. I have instituted a no touching my hair rule. 😂(My husband likes to stroke my hair absently). Thank you so MUCH for answering! It really does help to not feel alone and crazy!

I'm sorry you became allergic to carbo! I HATED Paxil. I think I tolerated that most poorly of all the meds so far.

Not what you're looking for?
