Hair Loss

I have completed a 7 course treatment of chemo following my diagnosis. After the 4th treatment I had surgery and my hair started to regrow and I had a very short covering of dark hair. I restarted chemo and hair fell out again but after my 7th & last treatment my hair hasn’t regrown in the same period of time.

I am worried it isn’t going to regrow ? Everyone thinks I’m being stupid but it is really depressing me I know I’m still alive and I should focus on that but I just expected it to regrow like before.

Sorry I just feel so miserable

My hair took much longer to regrow than most. But it did regrow in the end, as yours surely will.

I hope you’ve got lots of warm hats and scarves for this weather and maybe treat yourself to a new wig for Christmas, perhaps something completely different.

All the best!

Hi Scotty,

I was researching fasting before chemo when I came across this article. The author discusses fasting, but also a couple of other chemo tips, one of which is a product to help with hair growth. I have no experience of it myself, but maybe it’s something you could have a look at?

I hope you have a full head of hair very soon!

I'm in exactly the same position as you. Just had 7 chemo and surgery after #4. Had a 7 week break from chemo and hair started to grow back. Had 3 further chemos and no hair, no eyelashes or eyebrows. One week post last chemo, I'll let you know when hair starts to appear again so we can compare. Hope yours makes an appearance soon!!

That will be good funnily I didn’t lose eye lashes the second time but they are thinner.

On another point how do you feel now treatment finished? I had mixed emotions as I had started to think of the treatments as my comfort blanket and then no more, I knew I should have been relieved they were over but it was like “what now”

Wishing you all the best Shane we can’t post photos we could compare regrowth xx

Like you I too have mixed emotions. I'm very glad it's over but every twinge and niggle I worry it's back somewhere else. Hopefully the better I feel these feelings will dissipate but it's early days!! Still have a stoma as a reminder, had a bowel perforation after 2nd chemo. They say they can reverse this now, they did a resection when I had my big op. It was diverticulitis that burst and no infiltration in the bowel which I was so glad for.

Good luck with the regrowth, my hairdresser told me to put organic coconut oil on my scalp to help. I'll let you know if it helps for me.
