I have had one or two glasses of wine. 1st, chemo is nasty on your liver and kidneys so I want to give them my best. Second, it usually takes me 2 weeks to feel really good but everyone is different. 3rd, I have found some great tasting NA beers!
In my case I took steroids for 3 days after my treatment pretty wired I also used the cooling cap was told to wait to wash my hair 3 days after treatment thats when the chemo starts excreting in your hair follicles after that period I would enjoy a glass of wine or two and pace it with a N/A beer I’m in the States and enjoy Miller 64 low alcohol surprisingly good.
l dont drink, but was advised to drink a good quality glass of red wine every day. And although its like medicine to me l was absolutely fine.
Enjoy your night out, its something to look forward to love & hugs SheilaFxxx
lm sure it wont be a problem it wasnt to me a none drinker. SheilaFxxx
I had one glass of good quality wine. I also discovered some very good no or very low alcohol beers. My big mistake was buying alcohol free wine - it’s disgusting.
normally alcohol is contraindicated with chemo
I stopped drinking completely but my Oncologist said no reason to deprive myself so I drank in moderation now and again. If you're feeling up to it then enjoy a glass 🥂
Good morning Beeony
Thank you for your question. I can see that several members of the forum community have shared their experiences regarding chemotherapy and alcohol, which I hope has been helpful.
Cancer Research UK have an information page about social life, alcohol and other activities during chemotherapy which can be found here: cancerresearchuk.org/about-... . This explains ‘Whether you drink alcohol during your course of chemotherapy will partly depend on the particular drugs you are having. With some chemotherapy drugs it is very important not to drink alcohol as they interact and could make you unwell. Your doctors and nurses giving the treatment will be able to give you specific advice about whether drinking alcohol is safe with your chemotherapy drugs.’
In addition, The Royal Marsden’s information booklet about lifestyle changes and chemotherapy explains that ‘It will usually be all right for you to have a small amount of alcohol if you feel like it. There are one or two anti-cancer drugs which may interact with alcohol, but you will be told about these. Some people find that alcohol tastes unpleasant during chemotherapy treatment. Avoid drinking alcohol if you feel nauseous as it may make you feel worse’. This resource can be found on their website here: royalmarsden.nhs.uk/your-ca...
If you’re unsure about whether alcohol is safe to consume alongside your current chemotherapy treatment plan, please do speak to a member of your clinical team for guidance. Your clinical nurse specialist, oncologist or chemotherapy nurse should be able to provide you with personalised advice about this. If you would like to talk through anything with a member of the Ovacome support team, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. You can call our support line on 0800 008 7054 or email support@ovacome.org.uk. You can also direct message us through the forum if you prefer. We’re here Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm, to help with questions, provide information or just have a friendly chat.

If it’s any help, you can Google “MDAnderson alcohol chemo” for its patient guidelines that explain why it discourages alcohol use by chemo patients.

I wasn't told not to drink with chemo, but found I didn't fancy it. If it tastes OK and you feel up to it, go for it!
