unfortunately, Rucaparib hasn’t worked for me and I am also now platinum resistant . We are Looking at alternative treatments , one of which is weekly taxol. Has anyone any advice ?
it does sound quite daunting to have chemo weekly .
See my last post , I am hoping to be accepted on a clinical trial but if not , then it looks like weekly taxol
I must admit it is getting hard to keep positive !

Hello, the positive in your post is ‘treatments’ which suggests you have options.I was in a similar position December last year with a rapidly rising CA125 and opted for weekly Taxol which would at some point would be paired with self-funded Avastin.
I started Taxol in January and it was tough on my body. I had quite severe side effects. A couple of spells in hospital, blood transfusions and the dose was reduced. Avastin was introduced after week 12 when my CA125 had fallen quite dramatically and a scan confirmed Taxol was doing a good job.
Now I am on 3 weekly Avastin and doing ok although the neuropathy in my feet is only slowly improving. My oncologist says we can keep on with the Avastin whilst ever it is working .
So, don’t know if that info helps. We are all different and react differently to treatments. Whichever pathway you choose I do hope it works. This journey is tough and I get that it is hard to stay positive.
Sending you love strength and a big Teal-sister hug.
Good morning,Like you I am platinum resistant and have just completed week 10 of weekly Taxol. I’m also having Avastin every other week and it seems to be working. The neuropathy is getting worse but without pain so far. I find walking helps. Lack of energy is the worst side effect for me. Also I developed a rash on my arms which was worsened by the sun. As I live in Greece, it was almost impossible to avoid the sun altogether. A sore mouth and lips was problematic but my doctor told me to make a mouthwash of camomile , salt and soda then add rub gums and inside mouth with Dakotarin gel after every meal. . It worked . Greeks are great believers in the healing properties of camomile infusions. No problems with bloods so far!
Like you, I have spells of losing my positive attitude. I also lost my husband this year which hasn’t helped. However we soldier on and the longer we survive, the more chances we have of there being new treatments for us being developed.
Weekly taxol is doable compared to other treatments I’ve had, so GOOD LUCK!🍀
Weekly taxol is gold standard treatment. Make sure they give you booster shots to keep your neutrophils up. Ice cap helps control hair loss but they have to stick to protocol which is 5 min before taxol change halfway through. Good luck
I am on weekly Taxol, without too many side effects, though I did have a really bad allergic reaction several weeks into treatment.
I have to say that the worst thing is having to go to the hospital twice a week for blood test and chemo. I actually sat in the car park last week and had to make myself walk into the hospital!!
I can understand your last comment 😊. But thank you for your positive response .. x x
I’ve also become platinum resistant. I had Carbo in 2015 & 2018. I managed to get two doses of it last month. Today I started Taxol every second week. So I don’t know how I’ll be on it. I’m pumped up on steroids this evening so I’m sure it’ll be a couple of days before I know how I’ll cope.
It is certainly hard to keep positive. I empathise with that. I believe in putting it out of my mind, as far a possible, and just thinking about each day as it comes. I’m trying hard not to look ahead or think about the future.
