Can I canvas opinion on how you were administered weekly taxol chemo for recurrence?

Was it weekly, every week for 18 weeks

Or

Every week for 3 weeks, then one week off ?

I’m talking about WEEKLY TAXOL only here

Thanks all

X

Hi 2mini2,

I’ve just started weekly taxol. Plan was to do 3 weeks on, 1 week off...BUT, we’re running the first 2 cycles back to back, so 6 weeks in a row, to try to hit the cancer hard and give the chemo a chance to bite. After these 2 cycles, we’ll review progress and decide what to do next.

I’m happy to do 2 cycles, then one week off, for example, if my onc thinks that could work. I would like the odd week off, just to have that ‘rest’ period, but if it is all tolerable, then I’m happy to plough on.

So, not a definitive answer for you, but that’s how my plan stands at the moment.

Do you know what your regime will be, or are you figuring it out at the moment?

I’m transferring back from a London specialist to my local hospital for the taxol for logistical reasons.

My London specialist has said 3 weeks on, 1 off.

The local centre are saying every week.

How are you finding the weekly taxol? Are you using a cold cap?

I’ve only had 2 doses so far, and that was whilst I was an inpatient for a bowel obstruction, so it’s hard to say how it’s going. I feel pretty OK at the moment - some taste changes to food 😒 but that’s it so far.

I was going to try the cold cap, but I was so poorly when I started that the last thing I wanted was to freeze my head too. I’ve decided not to bother now. Just had my hair cropped short yesterday in preparation for it falling out, but so far it is holding on.

Well I wish you all the best - we can be taxol buddies !

Just looked at your profile and we’ve had a similar path - I’m 41, high grade serous diagnosed May 16 and this will be my 3rd line treatment

Oh gosh! That’s very spooky, isn’t it? Almost an identical path, although I did take the little foray into the clinical trial along the way. I moved from local to London, and may consider moving back to my local hospital if the logistics get too complicated.

Good luck with your taxol, and let me know how you get on/what timetable you end up with etc.

I have just completed 18 weeks of taxol with no time of .Just waiting results of scan. I found it completely bearable. Just tired towards the end and tingly fingers and toes. Good Luck you will do fine .Anne.

Hello, I had every week for three weeks, then one week off. I seem to remember that Janet and Harpist had every week at The Christie. I remember trying to calculate with Christine whether we were ultimately getting the same dose, based on the actual dose we were each getting and using mg per metres squared of body surface area but you know, I don’t think we finished the calculations. We must have got side-tracked.

Good luck with weekly. For me, it was much easier to tolerate than carbo/Taxol.

Hi I’ve finished number 18 of weekly taxol on Monday and I had it every week without any breaks. It is as part of a trial but I know other ladies not in the trial who are having taxol every week too with no breaks x

It’s been doable I just got very tired the last few weeks and my mojo has hidden somewhere but hopefully I’ll start to have more energy now it’s finished x

Mine wasn’t for a recurrence but I had it every week for 18 weeks at the Christie. I don’t know if the fact it’s for a recurrence makes any difference to the way it’s administered .

The side effects were really minor I found, I just got more tired as it progressed.

Good luck ❤️Xx Jane

I had it for 3 weeks then a week off, thought that was usual. I knew someone who had a different regime, I think it was 6 weeks then a break, but that was because it was part of a trial. Di

Hi.I did 18 weekly Taxol. No breaks.I was hard to not have a break. It was hard to plan anything.Friday was blood tesr..Monday chemo. All was working good.Scan showed tumors were shrinking.Ca125 going down. Then I caught a virus/temp. for two weeks. Then next scan showed treatment stopped working.18 treatments, loss of hair for nothing. This does work for many on here.I was not one of the lucky ones.Caelyx is my next treatment.I sure hope you do well on yout treatment. My opinion I would do 3 on 1 off.You need that break.Best of luck.Lynn56💙💙💙

I’m on the 3 weeks on, one week off. I was on Caelyx for 3 months but it didn’t do anything and my ca125 had risen from 960 to 1650 on it. Following the change to Taxol my level went down to 1006 after 2 treatments so looks more positive. I’m managing to work full time and other than feeling more tired than usual, I’m actually managing fine. I’ve been using the cold cap as I’ve only just got my hair back from Carbo/Taxol which finished in January, so I didn’t want to lose it again so soon after getting it back, but I’ve now had four treatments, only thing I’ve noticed is my eyelashes are thinning.
