Hi all I am 3days po after having hysterectomy and peritoneal washings biopsy of my omentum,I had a 20cm BOT in 2019 believed to be benign therefore taken out by a non cancer surgeon and no debunking done at the time. I wonder how long does it take for the results to come please?I'm so nervous as I did a lot of research on MBOTS and am aware that no chemo works so if it is in my pereneum It's not good, feeling a little down and haven't told family as don't want to worry then uneccesarily so grateful for to find this group again, thanks

Sorry to hear you are feeling down, it is only natural at such a worrying time. I can’t help with MBOTS advice, my diagnosis was low grade serous OC. But in terms of timescales I had my op on 10th March and got my results at a follow up Appt with Consultant on 28th March, so pretty quick really. I expect you will get notice of your follow up Appt quite soon. Fingers crossed for you. 🤞Also I would advise talking to a trusted family member or friend. It will help you enormously . I know it’s hard to say the words, trust me, I still haven’t told my 14 year old daughter, but I am determined to do so this week!

Hi Coco, thanks for the reply I may need to talk to someone as I am losing the plot a bit lol, so sorry to hear of your diagnosis, did you have a full hysterectomy?, have they discussed follow up treatment with you yet? 18 days isn't too bad I guess still wish it was sooner tho! Lol x

Hi Sabby, yes total abdominal hysterectomy, removal of both ovaries & omentum plus peritoneal scraping. I had two tumours across my ovaries that were borderline, but the ‘carpet of growth’ on the peritoneum was Low Grade 3c serous OC. They managed to remove all but a 0.5cm of the cancer.I was given the choice of Chemo but advised it only has a 20-30% chance of working with low grade. The other option, which I have taken is Tamoxifen hormone therapy. I’ve been on it for 3 months now and so far no real side effects apart from mega hot flushes & some weight gain, but that could be all the cake & ice cream I’ve been eating!

I have a follow up scan at the end of the month, which should help to show whether it is working or not.

Bless you thanks Coco, it's nice to be able to chat with someone going through a similar thing, fingers crossed the treatment is working for you, we will get our results around the same time then so let's hope its all good news! I hope you have someone to talk to, I told a friend of my worries yesterday only by text but it did help to share the worry! My 11 yr old has gone with her dad until 28th so atleast she doesnt have to see me moping around! Lol x

I have close friends & family to talk to, but it is nice to chat with others going through a similar experience. It also sounds like you are at a similar life stage to me with a young daughter. I still find it hard to believe I actually have cancer. Since getting over the operation I have felt really well, I’m back at work & just had a two week holiday in France, cycling, swimming etc But then I worry about what could be going on inside me, every little twinge I get.

How are you getting on post operation? Did you have open surgery or were they able to do key hole?
