It does get better, but I still wake up a couple of times a night. Try typing in 'insomnia' or 'sleeplessness' in the search box at the top right of the page, there are a few hints in previous threads. All the best

I found that my sleep was not helped by the menopause that I was jettissoned into by my surgery, and exacerbated by chemotherapy. So, things like the 'ladycare' magnet helped greatly with helping me to get to sleep, and -as Wendy says- it does get better, and you adapt. I also found taking a herbal tablet like 'calms' helped - more psychologically than actually I expect, but that's fine with me!

Best wishes,

Isadora.

Thanks for that not just me. I noticed on your profile you gave had a scan following your chemo. I have had overian full debulking done in jan and now finished six courses of carboplatin at begin of July. I go back for first review on Monday but have been told I will not be having scan just ca125 blood test. Apparently research says scan does not improve survival rate. But must admit don't understand thanks for help glad to here its going well always encouraging

I had my operation in January 2010 and the sleeping really has improved over time since then, honestly. I have found CBT (which I used for chronic pain ) really helpful for this. There is a free course on the internet called "Living life to the full" which I enjoyed doing. Many people find low dose HRT helpful too , as insomnia is a symptom of the meopause, but taking this if you have had OVCA is controversial.

Hi Sharon

Sorry for the jargon, this is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Basically it involves doing lots and lots more physical stuff, doing more of the things you enjoy and having lots of "pleasureable activities"...legal that is !! HRT short term in low dose might just help to get you back into a sleeping pattern.

I suffer from the same thing! I had my surgery July 26, 2012. Stage 3 ovarian cancer. I haven't been able to sleep well ever since. I think it's a combination between anxiety and hormone imbalance. Women who go through surgical menopause have sme unpleasant symptoms. My doctor put me on an estrogen patch yet I still suffer from the sleepless nights and sometimes resort to popping a sleeping pill :-(

Gentle hugs!!!

Xoxo,

Erika

I also have disrupted sleep following chemo/hysterectomy and now never "sleep through" the night like I use to. It's not a major problem as luckily I can get back to sleep easily enough. I haven't resorted to HRT etc incase my type of cancer was hormone driven.

Happy Sleeping.
