One dangerous ride !!

Had an appointment yesterday with my oncologist. Awoke to falling snow , didn't look too bad and the road crews usually have the major roads salted and cleared early .We set off , for a 10.30 appt . Conditions gradually became worse and traffic was single lane and gradually we were in swirling snow .Not a plow in sight. Would have bagged the trip , but over Christmas I'd had a stomach virus and possibly strep throat and wanted it checked out .Stopped eventually to wipe off frozen wiper blades and for hot 🍫chocolate .Pulled out and slid into another SUV in front of us at a traffic light . Delayed ,further to access damage which was minimal. Had been in touch with my nurse to say I'd be very late , finally, arrived just after noon .Just wanted to post that there other there other things that can make you feel very miserable other than cancer .My numbers from my last blood test were good 👍which made feel better . My oncologist reduced my Avastin dose , but was happy that my immune system was able to fend off the virus itself .My throat was still red but was happy that I fought it off without antibiotics . It took 10days , but finally improving , apparently, in our area this virus is doing the rounds . My symptoms were somewhat worse but missing Christmas dinner was a biggy. Also, looking forward to hearing if the Oxford study is showing any promise.Thank you one and for your posts .

Best wishes ❤to all, for a healthier 2022.

The snow looks very pretty but conditions are dangerous! I remember having to wade through a snow drift to get to one of my chemo sessions. I was an hour away but made it in….lots of those who lived 10 minutes away didn’t make it… so I pretty much had the dept and the nurses to myself xx

It was challenging Lyndy, there was a lot of ice under the snow . In hind sight , should have rescheduled but I do like to keep my appointments . I had been so sick the week before and although I did feel it was unrelated to the OC I dropped over 4 lbs and had very little appetite. The strep throat was a worry too . Funnily enough, ate a good dinner on returning home ,may have been anxiety related.

May have another snow storm this weekend, will be in doors !!!

By the time I got there , I was the last to leave. My nurse said if it happens again to reschedule .

Stay well Lyndy !!!

Glad to hear the accident was minor and that your blood test results were good. The snow looks beautiful. Hope 2022 is good to you, Gillian. Sashay

Hi Sashay, Good to hear from you . It was a pretty snow fall , we have 10inches in some places in our back yard . Driving in it , not so great . The accident was minor, thank goodness. We think a lot of the plow drivers may be out with covid . They are usually , on the ball . And we didn't see any .

It was worth the ride to get my blood results .

Due for a cat scan this month , oh goody !!!

Hope that you are comfortable with your new oncologist and his plan for you , know that you are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏.

Hope that 2022 sees some new and effective treatments for all !!

Kindest regards,

Gillian

I felt really rotten over Christmas with whatever bug I had .I really didn't associate it the OC , I d had a treatment two days before it started so I was already at a low point . I think it hit me harder , covid test was Negative . I also had strep throat which I am still treating , no antibiotics though . The good blood results helped to lift me and my oncologist gave me a half dose to give my stanima chance to rebound .Thanks for your good wishes .

We live near Washington DC .hot summers and the snow belt .

Good luck 👍to you Marleyz for 2022

Thank goodness you weren't hurt, cars can be fixed but not what you want on the way to the hospital . The main thing is your tests are ok which is brilliant. Please take care and hope your soon feeling yourself. Im at the hospital at 12.30pm for blood tests it is very cold here but not been out yet we tend to get snow where we live and and had a little yesterday. Here's hoping its just the booster that effected my CA125 test. Love & hugs SheilaFxxx

Hi SheilaF, To be honest we didn't even look at our SUV .

Hitting a car may have been a different result , was glad the other driver didn't get a whiplash .

Icy roads are hard to drive in !!

When I first started Lynparza my counts didn't come down and I also had been boosted and had a flu shot , but they have now started to come down , still a little high . I am due for a scan this month . I try not to worry once I leave my appt . Worry is like a rocking chair , keeps you going to doesn't get you anywhere ., my deceased husband's saying !!

Just lost a 60 yr old nephew to MS ,after a long fight . Life can be so unfair !

Hope your blood count trend down , I ceased to dwell on them and since my oncologist seems to be okay with them ,she tends to feel my abdomen for any swelling etc .

Thinking of you , more snow maybe this weekend, where do you live ?

Stay warm and safe .

🤔of you . Hugs !!

You have a brilliant hospital close by , my oncologist works out of two offices . We live east of Washington DC and snow seems to run up the north east corridor . This storm turned east hit us and my sons who live nj on the Eastern seaboard .Sorry you have to hoof it back for new blood tests, I guess they all can make mistakes . My nurse ♥takes mine . As my oncologist said cancer patients can get other things , think they just hit harder because our bodies are already in a fight .

Good luck with the results ,Organicinna

The snow looks beautiful. What part of America do you live?I’m glad that you are feeling better and agree that anxiety makes us feel worse. I used to brush off feeling unwell and now I worry about every sore throat and headache. It’s a beautiful sunny but cold day here so will gather some strength and take my dog for a walk.

Hope 2022 is a good year for us all xx

Hi Helvelyn , we live east of Washington DC. It was a pretty rotten Christmas season for me , but a think because I'd had an infusion two days before the bug hit , made it worse . I didn't associate it with OC but it did knock out . I tested negative for Covid , so realized it was a stomach bug with a strep throat which my Dr confirmed .

Finally , feeling a bit better .

Enjoy your walk with your dog 🐕, which I still had my beloved Angus !

H ope 2022 brings some new treatments for us all !fingers crossed .
